July 31, 201015 yr So today I was doing a routine dust clean on my computer. I made sure to ground myself, and the only part of the computer I physically touched was the CPU fan, which I r removed to clean and replaced. After putting my computer back upright, I tried to turn it on. The fans start to spin, the disk drive lights flash, but there no picture appears on the monitor. Something inside the computer makes a beep noise about twice a second. I turned off the computer again and checked inside to see if anything was loose, but nothing was apparent. I also fiddeled with the monitor plug, but I havnt tried totouch anything inside yet. Any ideas what is wrong?
July 31, 201015 yr The title made me think of this, and I laughed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2-UuIEOcss And, sorry, I don't know how to fix your problem. :|
July 31, 201015 yr Author Double :(, because you can't help me and Im on my Ipod touch, so I have no clue what the blue Lego brick that made you lol is.
July 31, 201015 yr Author I'm hoping that's it, otherwise it's the processor and I have to attempt to remove dell's evil heatsink. EDIT - Tried wiggleing the card around, to no avail. Tomorrow I'll try to actually remove the card and put it back.
July 31, 201015 yr Well, I've had video card issues in the past, and it did the exact same thing you described. It's a tricky little bugger. <_<
July 31, 201015 yr Author That's good news then. I was afraid I'd fried the processor or something else bad. I'll try fixing it in a few hours, it's past 3 here and Ill probably end up slicing my hand open on something if I try it now.
July 31, 201015 yr Go to your motherboards manufacturer homepage, visit your mobos page. Start your computer and listen to how the beeps go, then check on the site to see what fault it represents. July 31, 201015 yr Author According to foxconns page, I have a memory error, which Is weird because it's pretty hard to bump the RAM. I've tried removing one stick, removing the other stick, removing the dummy sticks that came with it, but nothing works.

July 31, 201015 yr Author Possibly. I think my friend has a 2001 era computer. I hope it's not the mobo, I'd have no clue where to find a replacement.
August 1, 201015 yr Another thing you could try is maybe the RAM was slightly disconnected. Take out the RAM, and put it back in too see if that helps. Same thing happened to my computer and when I tired that, it was all fixed. August 1, 201015 yr Author Tried that, and tried only leaving one stick in. Either both sticks are dead, or the slots are broken.
August 2, 201015 yr Author Contacts are the metal parts on the RAM stick, right? I'll try that in the morning.
August 6, 201015 yr Author Fixed the problem, one of the slots that contained a dummy RAM stick had a loose clasp, causing the computer to not read the RAM for some reason. Thanks for the help, especially dsavi for pointing out that the beeping MoBo meant something.
