iTunes Keys

Well I use iTunes a lot for playing music but one problem I have is with this Windows Keyboard, is you cant pause the damn thing if iTunes isn't your active window. I also have no skip/back buttons for it also so im wondering is there something I can do/use to rebind the keyboards keys to:

a) make the play/pause button work

b) change the mute button into a skip button for iTunes?

I actually don't think there is. On my desktop there are play/pause and skip/next buttons that will control Windows Media Player but iTunes has never responded to it, and being curious I just tried it out on my laptop, no luck there as well.

I remember trying to find settings for it once upon a time and having no luck, but maybe they've changed something with recent updates, not completely sure. :\

A lot of keyboards are useless with ther special function keys as they are bound to a specific task and you cannot alter them.

You wanna look out for non-windows ones as they are more likely to let you alter them and ones that have thier own set up program (eg logitech has set point) as that is where you'll be able to tinker with the settings

you might try this quick utility, it worked for the side-buttons on my Toshiba Qosmio. I dont know about changing the one key, but it allowed the fast-forward/rewind buttons to work without itunes being the active window.

EDIT:This may also suit you. I'm not entirely certain what type of keys you're trying to bind. http://www.mattberube.com/software/iTunesKeys/

Hmm... Guess I'll invest in one of those G15 Keyboards. Costs $90 but I've used them before and well worth it. :-k

They aren't. I had a G11 which broke after 6 months.

I am using a G15 keyboard to type this which I have had for over a year, works fine, looks fine and all the keys work properly (The Media Keys function for iTunes) so I have to disagree.. so long as you don't bash this keyboard (although it can take a hit) it should be fine.. very useful keyboard.

Just remember the disk that comes with it is there for a reason so install drivers from that disk or for the latest drivers from the website. - Felt I had to mention this because of the amount of people that think the LCD is just there to display a pretty "G15" logo lol.

Talking about Drivers, installing the latest ones from your keyboards manufacturers website could fix the media keys not working with iTunes problem for anyone who cares to try it.
