Problem with playing RS on fixed/resizable but not on Fullscreen

Featured Replies

Hi

I face a problem which I've never seen before.

I returned to RS after a 2 month break. Everything has been running perfectly till now.

I use a Mac (Haters gonna hate) which has always run RS with good settings and has never brought any problems.

Here are the statistics:

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo

Processor Speed: 2.53 GHz

Memory: 4 GB

Totally meeting the requirements on the web page.

Now, the problem is that when I run RS, I get this huge lag. In Standard quality, in minimum, maximum, any quality; but that's in a fixed/resizable screen mode. Now, when I go to Fullscreen with max resolution high/medium/low detail, I face NO LAG at all! I can play normally, just like before. But when I return to fixed/resizable, the same problem starts again - the game becomes unplayable.

Now, how can I find a solution here? Firefox is for some reason the only browser on which I can play the game. Safari and Camino both display a white screen, and on the top it says: "Error. Click for details" (Details play no role here since there aren't any useful writings). Firefox runs the game easily when not in fixed/resizable.

How to tackle this problem?

/// Oh, forgot to mention. I can't select another 'graphic mode' besides safe mode. It says "Runescape is unable to run ..." and safe mode stays.

...on my way to a Def 1 Hybrid.. for the 2nd time - Wow !

Sounds strange. I'm on a mac as well, and it wouldn't let me run runescape at *all* after a couple-month break until I did about 5 software updates until it had the latest version of java. I experienced quite a bit of lag as well until I followed the instructions on QFC 25-26-187-57791999. It might not help but it's worth giving it a shot.

I have the exact same problems with safari and chrome as well, even after following the instructions on the thread I mentioned earlier. It sucks, I know, but it might be one of those things that can't be fixed yet :(

The latest osx version cant handle the new graphics thingy... before i used to be able to play full screen but now it laggs and goes black...

I think there is a guide to mac usage around here; it goes something like this.

1) Pick up Mac.

2) Drop Mac out of window.

3) ??????????

4) Profit!

In all seriousness that is quite strange, but unfortunately I can't offer any help as I use a PC.

Unfortunately your post is useless. Why bother wasting your time on me?

This is a rant. I also acknowledged the fact that I could not be of any help to you. There is no need to get upset.

I believe you'd get better help in this forum.

I wish I could help you myself, but I use a PC and I'm unfamiliar with Macs.

I'd just make sure your software is up to date, Firefox has an inbuilt updater (Help > Check for updates), and I believe Java should update automatically too, but if not you can check the website or try software update. If that fails you could try clearing out the rs cache. What graphics card does your mac have anyway?

Also, a lot of PC stuff is relevant to Macs as well, so there isn't really a need for "Hurr durr, well Idk cause PC".
