Barrows and the voids....

I was wondering about going barrows with an alternate setup ...

 

Full void Mage for the meleers BUT use deflector and Ahrim top - should give high accuracy? Not that accuracy matters much there but heh void has it's uses (see below) Casting claws of guthix with void mace and using charge?

Full void melée with whip / ddp for karil / Ahrim / tunnel? Possibly even claws with void top in inventory and whip...?

 

I have piety as well so the specs should hit well!

 

By my reckoning this uses less or equal inventory spaces to a normal sally/ancient method... Whip, ddp, leg nd body melee armour, leg and body dhide - 6 items for Sally method.

 

Void melee helm, claws, void body, whip, 1 blank for the deflector shield when claws being used - 5 spaces used for armour for a void method.

 

I know void has lower stats than other armour but surely it's damage bonus against karil and Ahrim makes up for that? The extra inventory space can be a prayer potion - meaning prayer on all brothers so def stats matter less or possibly food to cover the hp lost by using lower quality armour?

 

I know it may not be perfect and may loose money if u pray on them all but it's just a thought...

 

Opinions please! I'll test this once I get deflector and let ppl know how it goes! Although .... I could use void top and zammy book meaning 1 less item in inventory again? Hmmmmm

I might try this, i have all the void pieces, but i think ill run into trouble with tanking the bros, better with Ancient Magic it all with battle robes. You can stay almost forever with high stats

This. With ancients and a rapier/whip for karil and ahrim and of course a spec wepon, I can stay for 50+ chests a trip with about 6-10 prayer pots.

I'm too nooby for rapier! When you say ancienting ... I guess u mean ice barrage and run away? Surely this would work with void also? Or perhaps just use a pro prayer setup and pray on all brothers so can stay long time?

Well if you can't use a rapier I did mention whip. :wink: And yeah, it would work with void, but Battle Robes + SoL with ancient ice spells = KOed melee bros easy. You don't need the accuracy bonus from void, the 50% rune saving effect from b robes and SoL is much better, and with that set up it's accurate enough already. You don't even have to use barrage. I'm a nooby mage (only 92 so no barrage for me yet) so I just use Ice Blitz and manage 50+ chests easily. As for a pro prayer set up, you could try that, but you won't last anywhere near as long as using ancients, and you'll spend a lot on prayer pots (meaning a long dry streak could make barrows possibly lose you money).

 

Although, you don't NEED to be efficient at what you do. It's a game, and it's about having fun. If you find it fun to do barrows in full bronze and a bronze dagger, go for it! More power to you! :thumbsup: It's all up to you about what set up you find most fun or you are most comfortable using.

That aside, how long does battle robes take to get with an average skill in f.o.g ? (In hours) I have 82 Mage, (ice blitz) 91 str, 85 def, 81 attk, 83 range... And how long do the robes last? 'tis the purple robes (f.o.g) init?

 

Cos I'm thinking of possibly noobing it at rock lobsters with b robes for lvl 88 summ ..... Think it's like 30m currently but only like 15 - 20m with robes!

Ice blitz or barrage, blitz is almost as powerful.

You buy the Battle Robes off g.e, they are crashing and are quite easily obtained. Then you recharge them with your own tokens. It's quite fun to play it to recharge, but it's tiresome to play it to get the set.

Right kk thanks :) I guess swapping AsN and tome for a zammy book and a glory/stole isn't quite as effective but still good?

Just be sure to use B Robes, because the runes are expensive! And don't get KC it won't help your barrow item chance.

Should be okay, not that I've barrowed much lately, though. It's always good to try different things - you might figure out something small that will help you further on just by trying different methods, even though they would be generally worse.
