Hi.

 

I'm having some trouble with the very first part of this quest where the labels on the crates have been swapped around and I must figure out which is which.

 

The problem is simple enough. I worked it out on paper, tried it, didn't work.. ok hmm try working the problem again, same result, input that . The guy still says it's wrong. so i check a quest guide and it says my answer is the correct one, so I try once more to getting the answer wrong.

 

Now if (as told by the commander in game)

 

3<2,4,5,6

5<2,4,6

2<6,4

6<4

 

should i not get 3<5<2<6<4. if that is true (which undeniably it is) then why will the game not let me progress farther in the quest? - could there be something wrong in my input? I did it in lightest-heaviest order as above

The commander does not ask the same question every time; if you pay close attention you should be ok.

as far as the conversation goes on my end the question is the same for every entry saying "the weights in crate labeled '2-6'" then the options are variances of "should be labeled, actually weighs, are of weight, etc.. I don't see how those mean anything different

You are probably reading the question wrong.

 

He says the "weights in crate 2 are actually"

Most people mistakenly answer 3.

 

This is wrong.

You found 3 to be the lightest, so the weights in crate 3 are actually 2.

But he does not ask this, he asks what the weight THAT ARE CURRENTLY IN crate 2 are.

In the ordering 2 is the middle weight so out of 2,3,4,5,6 the middle weight is 4. Meaning the weights in crate 2 are actually 4.
