November 5, 201015 yr I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop and I am having trouble with playing music through headphones. The computer knows that they're plugged in and it says that they're enabled, but music won't play from them. It's weird cause when I press the test button and it plays the little ringing sound, it comes through the headphones just fine and I can hear it. I just can't hear music when I'm playing an mp3 or something.
November 5, 201015 yr Of course! The headphones are broken. --- How much have you messed with the Sound properties? (Search "Sound" in the Start menu.) ^ Blog.
November 5, 201015 yr Most probably cause is if you load the sound properites screen someone showed above it will list the onboard speakers and the headphones, but the onboard speakers will be set to default. That means a test sound specifically told to go to headphones would but a normal program jsut tells computer make this noise plx and the computer sends it to the default sound device; set the headphones as default and it should work fine. November 6, 201015 yr Try clicking on the 'Speaker'-icon in the start-bar and click on 'Properties' and then the first option (sorry, I don't know what it's called in English, as my computer's Danish). Then, it'll say something like mixerunit (?) and then set that to the headphones (e.g. mine would be SoundMax HD Audio to Razer Megalodon - my headset).
