Ardy 3 or SW cape?

TeamRealT

Recommended Posts

I use prossy, turmoil and extreme pots on all my tasks. Im currently using the sw cape for more prayer bonus, would the Ardy 3 cape with +6 prayer and stab be better? Seeing as i already have decent pray bonus between prossy+fury, and i use a rapier, so the stab bonus would be helpful.

In other words: We got a ban hammer in varrock mines. It's jackin yo [censor] bots, slappin yo macros up, tryna ban em, so ya'll need to hide yo scripts, hide yo clicks, and hide yo logs cause they bannin errbody up in here.

I use ardy cloak for tasks that have some degree of defense, like irons, steels, miths, abbys, and the like. For stuff with essentially 0 defense like black demons, bloodveld, blue dragons, gargoyles, dust devils, etc. etc., attack bonus doesn't matter much at all, so I use sw.

Try using Bandos (borrow it or something).

fire cape

prayer bonus is unimportant as long as you can bring enough ppots to do a whole task without banking. since you have high combat stats and gear, and have turmoil (which drains more slowly than piety), you will be able to carry enough ppots to any task even with 9 prayer bonus (fury, fire cape, bandos chestplate and tassets).

oh and 4 strength and 1 attack is superior to 6 attack on every melee-able monster in runescape.

While technically true, that gets annoying in that you clog your inventory with a ton of prayer pots, and you have to drink them more often. For the loss of a tiny 4 str and 1 att, you gain a lot of inventory fluidity and a little less effort drinking potions.

Small difference? Yes, but then so are the offensive stats you're talking about. I'll err on the side of lazy because it really doesn't matter much either way.

first let me reply to this:

i agree. now let me reply to this:

i guess you are referring to SW cape instead of fire? that puts you at 19 prayer bonus instead of 9. this means that you drink 8.8 prayer potions per hour (using turmoil) instead of 11.1.

using a fire cape means:

  • that you spend 13.5k more gp per hour
  • that you must drink prayer potions every 81 seconds instead of every 102 seconds.

whether 13.5k an hour is an issue for you or an additional 10 clicks an hour is too much for you will be the deciding factor.

Ah, but how much DPS do you gain from those 10 clicks and 13.5k/hour? I'm not saying that it's not technically better, but it is a REALLY tiny difference.

The inventory is the main thing for me, though. It's annoying bringing that many prayer potions to something like nechryael, for example, that drop a lot of seeds and rune boots and rune fulls and whatnot that I like to collect. I do tend to fire cape it up at places like bloodveld that drop few things I like to take, though.

Well you may be making the mistake I made . I thought proselye plate > torso, but it turns out +4 strength is actually 1,5-2,5% more dps. I checked it, with maxed setups, just varying between berserker and berserker (i) (+4 strength, that is).

Max hit at first: 644

With +4 strength: 656

That's 12 more damage, or about 1,86%, or about 67 seconds saved per hour, or 67k (at 3.6m/hr). The lower your total strength bonus, and the lower your corresponding max hit, the more important +4 strength becomes.

Setup with whip, fury, d boots, normal berserker ring, dragon defender, no bandos/fire cape: 550 max. With fire cape: 562. So still the same +12, with a lower max, or about 2,18% more dps.

Again, this is all technically true. However, when you factor in the stuff that gets stupidly complicated to consider, like overkill (which favors attack bonus), and time spent between kills (but still praying), and time possibly spent playing with inventory space to pick up a nice drop, the true difference is assuredly smaller than that. Your calculations consider straight damage per time spent in combat, which is very useful, but are NOT the whole story.

All said, a very efficient slayer might come out with a 1% DPS difference. Which is indeed better, but avoiding a small amount of annoyance is more important to me. Particularly because I'm 99 slayer already and if I'm slaying it's PURELY for fun/stress relief.

Well a fire cape has a higher attack bonus than soul wars, so I guess overkill is only and issue with ardy 3. I'm afraid I can't read Grimy's Markov chain code, which determines overkill loss, so I won't answer that.

For the second point, time between kills, that is an issue, yes. Then again, Bladewing covered that already in his calculations.
