i really would like to have this on my site, ive seen these on many sites and its bugging me as i dont know how to do it... ive searched and searched but i dont come up with anything because i dont think im phrasing it right or something... any help is welcomed =)

make yourself an ico file (I believe they involve similar encoding to png files, but you can make them easily using irfanview) and put it in the root directory of your website. Call it favicon.ico.

The majority of people in the world don't use Firefox Matt.

Its bad coding tho. The code used to make Favicons work in IE breaks the specification for XHTML.

I know the majority of people in the world dont use firefox, and i dont have any stats on usage here on tipit but when making a website these days you should code to standards. With IE7 coming soon things should be a lot better, but in the mean time its best to go without a feature, thats only good for visual looks, than break the web standards.

IE 7 will probably support it (or should I say, hopefully). And being valid xhtml improves web standards. Fixing IE at every possible point (and then having to revise those fixes once IE 7 gets out the door) doesn't improve web standards at all.

I agree with Matt stick to the coding standards

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Microsoft dont rule the web as much as they think, Its their fault if their browser is incompatable with certain websites that do follow the standard.

And IIRC, the first set of web standards were written for IE and NN.

 

 

 

Now IE is the only browser which doesn't support them, so whatever.

 

 

 

No pity for IE really - if they can't be arsed to keep up that's their problem.
