Resistance
Hello, I am in need of a graphics tablet, I'm not a professional but I would like it to be semi decent and make high quality concept sketches. RequirementsCompatible with macUnder £40 (inc. postage to UK) Thank you for your time, ~Ress
tripsis
I would recommend a Wacom Bamboo tablet :) Wacom is by far the best brand when it comes to tablets and the Bamboo is their cheapest option. It may actually go a bit above £40 so you may have to buy one used on eBay or something. But if you can find one for that price, I would highly recommend it. I've also moved this thread to The Gallery :) Although you are correct in placing it in Tech & Computers since a graphics tablet is a piece of technology, you will probably get more responses in a forum full of artists! - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

Thanks.
Myu
Anyone who ever wants to get a tablet gets the recommendation to get a Wacom bamboo for a good reason. Be shure whether it's just bamboo pen, or pen&touch. The pen&touch costs more and is not very much better, so go with just the pen. If you want a slightly better tablet, I recommend the wacom Intuos 4 small. I have it, and you can see in my thread here that I like it and use it a lot. I did not get a Bamboo first, but that's because I knew that I would use it on a "professional" basis.
tripsis
At least where I checked the Wacom Bamboo (cheapest option) shouldn't be more than like £48. A brand new one on Amazon is £48 so you should be able to find a used one for hopefully around £40. As Myu said, just make sure you're getting the cheapest option ;) And Intuos is definitely amazing (I have one) but way out of his price range  - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
Resistance
£400 for an Intuos :P, I think that's ever so slightly slipping out of my price range :P.Tripsis, can you link me the £48 amazon one please. I have a twenty pound amazon voucher so I will only be paying eighteen pounds (I'm sure that's how it works :D) Thanks for the tip Myu.

Myu
That's only $57. I could totally get one... Has anybody actually used this tablet/how easy are they to get used to?I have an intuos 4 right next to me, which is just like a bamboo, except I get it in sleek black, a few buttons and a touch wheel, And some pressure levels, I assume. It's basically the same product. I'm guessing you want to draw with it.The Intuos was relatively easy to get in to. It's just about being comfortable with not being able to look at, or turn the paper. You have to look at the screen and turn the canvas in the program instead. It also takes a while to get yourself comfortable with the tool. It's not anything like paper. After some time playing around with it every day, It got really natural to use. Today, I can draw good on both paper and withthe tablet. It also depends a lot on the Pc/programs you have and use it for. I recommend it, It's really nice to use. Resistance
I'm sure five is enough, I'll get the 'play-dough feel' where you can see where a person has pushed down.

unknowz
I have an Intous 5 and I loveee it There is no such thing  -- Bamboo is definitely the best entry level tablet you'll find. However, if you get more interested in the field of digital art, upgrading to an Intuos is worth it. Then there's the Cintiq, but the opinions are mixed on this one. Some people like the fact that you actually draw on the screen, but I've seen a lot of people argue that it lacks the precision and feel of an Intuos. tripsis
For a while I was obsessed with the idea of having a Cintiq. I wanted one SO badly. But honestly, after having my Intuos 4 for like... almost 2 years now I don't think I'd even want one. Originally I was thrilled with the idea of being able to actually draw on the screen, but I've grown so accustomed to using a tablet that I don't feel drawing on the screen would be "so much better" as I once thought. In fact, having a tablet can even be nice because when you draw directly on something your hand can get in the way, etc. But with a tablet, you have a complete, unobstructed view of your drawing. But to each his/her own :P - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

Doomster
If your local Aldi has the Medion "2 in 1" (also use as mousepad), then that seems to be a rebranded Aiptek Hyperpen Mini, which is a rebranded Waltop Q-Padhttp://www.waltop.com.tw/download.asp - and there is an OSX driver for the Q-Pad

Resistance
I've found about a software named Inklet which allows me to both save money and use the mac trackpad, its not perfect but I'm sure that it will do the job. Also bought a touchscreen pen.
