Fairness
A dongle does nothing more than any software could. Why then do loads of banks supply them? I find it hard to believe they are that stupid.Banks aren't stupid, they are just trying to make it more simple for the computer-illiterate customers.Or, to put it more bluntly: it's not the banks, it's the people. You're being watched.
Dracae
First off, I do not understand the word "reasonable". State an exact price, else I cannot and will not answer this poll. Secondly, refer to my first point. No, lol, that is a personal thing. I would pay 20 incl sending, but I am sure a lot off ppl would not go higher then 5 or 10 bucks. The word reasonable is to exclude price from the issue and discuss this regardless. So if you think 2 bucks is reasonable, then assume it is that.. But that's pointless. It's like asking "Would you agree to buy the security dongle for the price you would agree to buy it for?" That's equally pointless. We can only get an accurate representation if we say that it would cost, for example, $5, so that we could see how much of the voters would shell out that $5. That's a poll worth conducting. Well, I conciser a discussion on principle, excluding price more worth wile.. money gets in the way of things. ========================================= Other point, ironicaly the day w/ft returned I got a mail trying to fish for my account.. quite a good one, without an obvious tell that it was fake. I am a little paranoid...lol.. however, so investigated it before clicking anything. Dracae
No idea what you are on about with the web browser part, doesn't seem to make any sense to me. Runescape's password protection system is practically flawless, other than being able to remove an email address without access to it... If you set up your account securely it will be secure. If you don't, it won't. I wrote my first post originaly for rs forums, so stayed a little vague, but let me be a little more clear.: - A guy I know who ones a computer repair shop was shown by a colleague how to easily clone a ggogle chrome browser, where the one who did that needed no more then the ip-adres. - Runescape does ( or at least did ) advise us to use capitals in our password.. but.. the password program is not case-sensitive.- You get stopped from putting in a wrong pw after a few times.. but this can be circumvented easily by closing browser windows at the right time.( no I did not try it.. ) Obviously this is 'hearsay' but, I trust the sources. Lastly: security holes show up in browsers all the time, just follow the news.. to know this.. of-course the risk can be made smaller by regular updates etc.. but not avoided completely. The tip it forums itself once got hacked... No idea what you are on about with the web browser part, doesn't seem to make any sense to me. And why not offer the same option to RS players....?
GuidesForScapers
Ahh thanks for clarifying :) And RS players shouldn't be given that option because it is unnecessary. Fair enough if Jagex want to improve user security, but wasting a USB port and the money of any user to do so is outrageous, especially since Jagex would profit. If they provided that level of security for free, perhaps they would have more users. I know of a lot of people who have been hacked in the past and quit because of it. Legalize baby punching. Tax and regulate it. Punch babies erry day.

So do I, as in knowing ppl quitting after being hacked.. and like most ppl against my idea, I actually believe most ppl 'hacked' have themselves to blame.. but I remain: why not avoid this at all?I did not ask for Jagex to make this mandatory either , so everyone who can not spare the money or usb port ( splitter anyone? ) would not have to do this.I also did not suggest Jagex make money on this.. I would hope they would provide this at cost...

Rock Hard
I wouldn't use one because the hassle of carrying a dongle round isn't worth it, i'd inevitably lose it anyway. I would probably use a free android / iphone app though. Tbh, if a serious hacker got access to my computer i'd have bigger things to worry about than my rs account , and considering the fact I'm a computer security student - so would the hacker... Lol, you'd get an F if one did. Kidding. Honestly, the thing about paying for one is, what if someone gets their hands on yours? Personally I think I'd buy one though... Honestly, despite all these security issues, etc, most people who get hacked did something stupid like bot, tell PW to a friend, download something, private server, etc. In most cases with computer security, a lot of stuff can be avoided by avoiding shady sites and not downloading stuff.
