ACCOUNTKIL-ASDFAF12312FAF1
With a $2,000,000 grand prize, the Australian Open is certainly a Grand Slam to want. But, the trials and tribulations the players have to endure is gruelling and tedious, but surely the money is enough to keep them motivated. The 2011 Australian Open is no different, but with the great Roger Federer losing in the semi-final, it seems that the others now have a chance at winning. The men's singles final seems a hitch, with the top two players gone. But can the two remaining players handle each other? Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray first met in a junior's tournament, and that match was not a good memory for the Serbian. Losing to Murray 6-1 6-0, a spectacular rivalry began. They now meet each other in the final of the Australian Open, each hoping they get a chance to hold the trophy. In the women's singles, the top two players are also gone, but that doesn't seem so bad. The difference is that both William's sisters have ceased to reach the quarterfinals. Kim Clijsters and Li Na battle it out for the $2,000,000. With these spectacular defeats, I ask a question. Who do you think will win this year? Edit: Clijsters has one the match, 3-6 6-3 6-3. Truly amazing!
BloodAngel
That's quite some hype-building skill you've got there :P Tomorrow will be the first time since Australia 2008 that neither Nadal or Federer have been involved in a Grand Slam final and given the two male finalists it's a shame Nadal didn't make the final as I think he'd have comfortably gained his "Rafa" slam. That being said, both players are deserving to be in the final but I feel Djokovic can be the only winner as Murray is far too inconsistent in the major slams as seen yesterday against Ferrer. So Djokovic in 4 sets is my guess. As for the womens, I don't have any useless stats for that but even though Clijsters has lost the first set I think she'll win in 3 although I'm not too bothered who wins, I'm just delighted neither of the Williams sisters are in it :P "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale." Miner_Guy
Im so gutted that rafa got injured i mean i think he would of won and made history, federer is past his best just look at his 8 grand slams finishes and you will see why. Djokovic is in great form and so is murray both men will be hungry for it so i simply cant decide. A pity Henin retired as she was one of my favourite players, personally i think clijisters will win. :D

Nadal's performance in the semi-finals was the worst I've ever seen him play in a Grand Slam. Being World #1 is quite a feat, but apparently, that intimidation was not enough to keep Ferrer from triumph. The current placement in the men's final is a toughie, but I agree, Djokovic will come out on top. In terms of Federer, I think it was just because of his slow descent in performance, and Djokovic's luck. I'm watching the women's live, and currently it's the 3rd set, Clijsters leading 5-2. It looks like Clijsters has got his in the bag.
BloodAngel
Yea Ferrer played an amazing game to beat him. Even though Nadal was injured he could have still probably beaten anybody who wasn't playing their absolute best. As for the women's final, well that was poor match from both players with both struggling to hold serve however it was gripping to watch. There were some moments of brilliance in there but there were also some moments of pretty bad tennis. I'm glad Clijsters won though, it was well deserved and she'll return to #2 in the world now behind Wozniacki. I'd be surprised is Li Na doesn't win a Grand Slam at some point in her career, when she's playing well she has some incredible shots. "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale." Miner_Guy
Nadal actually lost in the quarters, he would of won if he hadnt got injured plus he had flu before the tournament, he is jsut a really unlucky guy + his style of play gives him injuries. BloodAngel
Andy Murray becomes the first player in the Open Era to fail to win a single set in three grand slam final appearances, quite an achievement there. He really needs to improve mentally if he ever wants to win a grand slam as he just can't handle the big games.Credit to Djokovic though, he played an amazing game and his defensive lobs were incredible and saved him in several lost causes. The worrying thing for his rivals is that he didn't play as well as he did against Federer yet he destroyed the 5th (I think 4th when the new rankings come out tomorrow) best player in the world so this definitely wont he his last slam. Now we have a 4 month wait until the next Slam  "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale." assassin_696
Murray played awfully, which was a real shame because I thought after the Ferrer match is was going to be a good battle in the final. Credit to Djokovic though, he played some incredible shots, and seems to be able to return absolutely anything at the moment.
