fatherdeath
So, I just started playing RS again, after a 3 year hiatus. Needless to say, some things have changed. I'm using my old staker as my main, so I have alot of levels to go (basically in everything). So, my question is, what range gear is now efficient? I'm currently only 62 range. Funds are limited. Most of the arrows etc, i plan on making to level my other skills. A friend mentioned grabbing a dark bow, but I was not sure if it is more effective than magic shorts. Any advice would be appreciated!
Quyneax
The dark bow is not really good at anything but KOing. It's max is around 500-500 (depending on gear and stuff) with the special attack but it's very slow and generally useless outside pvp. At 60 ranged, train with a magic shortbow or the best knives/darts you care to use. Void range is the best ranged gear unless you need defence. You can now get it without doing combat through Conquest - this also gives you the very useful deflector. Goldenjkered
Dark Bow is only useful for its special, training wise it is pretty poor due to it's firing rate. At 62, a Red Dragonhide Set, Archer Helm/Robin Hood Hat, Ava's Accumalator, Snakeskin Boots, Glory Ammy, and a Zammy Book if you can get one. There are a few different option when it comes to a weapon/ammunition. A rune crossbow with broad bolts (or lower) is a good choice for training against monsters with higher defence than others (Blue Dragons etc). Knives/Darts are good for low defence monsters such as Yaks. Finally, a Magic Shortbow can be used for pretty much anything, but you'll need to use Addy/Rune arrows to get a good xp rate.
