Is there a way to boost FPS?

Featured Replies

I've seen that FPS should be above 30 to be able to play well, and over 40 for a great "experience".

Mine is usually in the low to mid 20s, and sometimes even goes down to 12. I've never seen it over 29.

Is there a way to boost it?

get a new computer

Hey!

If you right click on the Desktop > Properties > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot.. (Hardware acceleration to Full)

Have you updated your graphics drivers?

You can lower settings on Runescape, textures, etc.

Depending on what Windows system you use; Control panel > Hardware & Sound > Display > Change display settings > Change the monitor refresh frequency to the best one, and the one that doesn't mess your screen up...

You could also over clock the CPU I suppose...

Can you please post the specs of your system..

Hope this helps,

Thanks,

Is it the computer itself? Monitor, internet connection, etc.?

FPS is limited by a multitude of factors:

1) Internet speed, slow net lower FPS

2) Low RAM availbility - no RAM to process lots of frames = less FPS

3) Old crappy CPU - older can't do as much at monce = lower FPS

4) Bad/old/no graphics card = graphics processing given less prioty and thus less FPS

Your system specs would help us give better insight as to precise what is limiting you.

I'm on Windows XP if that's what you mean.

I was away for about 5 weeks before and got back just after all the floods and such (live in Queensland, Australia) and the internet hasn't been as good as it was before, so I suppose there's a chance that they're still getting everything back to normal.

System specs:

Do this: click Start, run, and type: dxdiag and press enter.

Then paste it here/take Screenshot and post it here..

Also ingame on the displayfps part it says cache:100% if that's important in any way.

Mike,

Did you try the steps I gave you? You have a pretty old computer compared to today's systems. So it's no surprise that it's not the best FPS. You have many things that could effect it as stated before, CPU, Graphics, Memory, any number of things. Try everything I suggested and see if it improves. I'm going to sleep now so I'll check on this topic in the morning. I also hope other people take a look and maybe can help you while I'm sleeping. Will reply in morning.

Thanks.

Hey, I realise you've had a lot of feedback here, but I'm going to move this to the tech forums as you'll more likely get some great answers there, and the threads don't dissapear from the first page as quickly.

If you'd prefer it stayed in Help and Advice, just let me know ;)
