December 27, 200520 yr Go to Windows Update and download SP2, as said above. These messages are sent using Windows' Messenger service (not MSN, which was also once called Windows Messenger) and are sent to many computers at a time. They are only received by computers that don't have the service either blocked with a firewall or disabled entirely. It is unlikely that these are caused by adware/spyware (although it never hurts to run a scan). If SP2 won't download you can go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and disable the Messenger service.

December 28, 200520 yr Messenger spam! http://www.stopmessengerspam.com/ - this place seems to be genuine... a tool to control it, or manual instructions. Unless you have a pirate version od Windows which will not accept SP2, I would highly recommend getting SP2. I also highly recommend getting a hardware router, even if you only have one PC, as it filters a lot of this junk out. Windows antispyware would be a good move too, as being bothered by messenger spam is symptomatic of having completely untuned security in all other respects.
December 28, 200520 yr Make sure you not ONLY STOP the messenger service , but set it to DISABLED :) I like to fart silently but deadly in movie theatersArd Choille says (11:41 PM):I wouldn't dare tell you what to do m'dear
December 28, 200520 yr Its funny that the website of the spam that you are getting even includes instructions on how to disable messenger service lol Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape.
