Tainaith
I'm not sure if it's because I'm fairly new to Dungeoneering, because I have a low Runecrafting level, or some other unknown factor, but the more and more I get into the skill, the worse Magic seems as a combat skill vs. Melee. I really enjoy using Mage whilst in Daemonheim, but if meleeing would work better I would much rather do that. So, basically: Is Magic worthwhile in Dungeoneering as a combat skill? *99 Cooking Achieved: 4th of July, 2009--99 Fishing Achieved: Christmas Day, 2009--99 Woodcutting Achieved: May 4th, 2010--99 Magic Achieved: September 11, 2010--99 Fletching Achieved: June 14th, 2012--2000 Total Achieved: July 2nd, 2012**1100 Dominion Bosses defeated*Heroes of Newerth player -- IGN: SaveTehPandaStarCraft 2 player -- IGN: plasmaJelly
LitterBug
Magic is more of a situational skill rather then something you can rely on like melee. I think that if you're solo-ing, magic is a fine thing to use. However, looking at your RC - it looks like if you were to mage, you would be stuck on bolt spells. In which case, you're definitely better off using melee. Also, if you're going to rush with people - it might be a nice idea to grab some runes (the essences are dirt cheap) and use the mage when it's more helpful then melee. However, if you're going to need somebody to craft runes for you or if you're going to use bolt spells - I'd say ditch that and just go melee. Plus the beserker ring works wonders (+11% with the first rank). I think it's pretty safe to say that none of the mage rings are all that helpful and they won't surpass the benefits received from the beserker ring. Grimy_Bunyip
with a celestial cat staff, fire surge can beat out the DPS of a primal 2h without turmoil.I'd say that's pretty good. it's definitely not obsolete. Ranging without a hex, now that's obsolete :P.
Gilformen
fire surging would require someone who is soloing to have 95 magic & 77 rc, 80 rc if they wanted to craft an empowered fire staff. if youre in a team it would probably be easier. 32,606th to 99 magic || 15,388th to 99 dungeoneering || 12,647th to 99 farming14,792nd to 99 range || 24,954th to 99 herblore
Tainaith
I do feel that if I want to Mage in Dungeons, I'll need to raise my Rc level. Until then, I guess I'll switch over to Melee. *99 Cooking Achieved: 4th of July, 2009--99 Fishing Achieved: Christmas Day, 2009--99 Woodcutting Achieved: May 4th, 2010--99 Magic Achieved: September 11, 2010--99 Fletching Achieved: June 14th, 2012--2000 Total Achieved: July 2nd, 2012**1100 Dominion Bosses defeated*Heroes of Newerth player -- IGN: SaveTehPandaStarCraft 2 player -- IGN: plasmaJelly

Not true. You only need 70 runecrafting for a CSB and can pick up bloods from monster drops. No-one should really solo, though. Like Grimy said, a celestial staff + CSB is very good. I would personally say that you should bind a gorg 2h and CSB. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
