Dropdown menu bug in IE9

Featured Replies

Okay, I have been experiencing a bug with the Dropdown menu for accessing : My Profile, My Settings, My Content, etc. Specifically in IE 9 whenever the dropdown box is selected it immediately transfers to the My Profile page without allowing any alternative choice.

List of Specific details:

  • IE 9 Beta and RC browsers
  • Does not happen on other forums making use of IP Board 3.1.4
  • Happens on all forum skins
  • viewing the page in compatibility mode fixes the issue (while causing a few display issues on the website and the forum)

Yeah, just tested this :(

It's very strange that a new browser would go backwards in that sense...pretty sure the IPB guys coded their drop downs just like millions of others so it's strange to see this behaviour. I'm not sure that there is an "easy" fix or solution...really the solution is for Microsoft to fix their browser I think.

But you say it does not happen on other forums with the same default skin? Maybe that's a hint to what's causing this problem.

I wouldn't bother doing anything about it until IE 9 RTM is released.

Yeah, figured since this problem still hasn't been resolved I would bump this topic to try getting it fixed. Also perhaps this has something to do with the issue: IP.Board 3.1.4 JavaScript Patch for Internet Explorer 9 Compatibility

May as well throw updated info in here too:

Effects IE9 full release

Previous forum software update did not resolve the problem

Have same exact issue - also fixed by compatibility mode. Minor inconvenience.
