shawn3090
Whenever I put my laptop to sleep it turns off the wireless card and thereby disconnects it. When I wake it up, it takes about 2 minutes to reconnect. I frequently put the computer to sleep when I move it, so the hard drive does not become damaged. However, I would like the wireless card to remain on and active. How should I go about doing this? Notes:I have a Thinkpad, so I can use the new InstantResume, which keeps connections active, but it doesn't actually put my computer to sleep until I open the lid (wtf?). It also crashes the computer occasionally. When I go to device manager (w7) and go to the properties of my wirless card (Intel centrino ultimate 6300) and go to the power management tab, the "turn off this device in low-power mode" box is unchecked. However, the card is still unpowered upon sleeping. [hide=Stats][/hide]"One death is a tragedy. Sy_Accursed
Can't be done as far as i know. Whole point of sleeping is for short term off time; eg a few hours. You don't need to worry about moving it while turned on, hdd are no where near as easy to break as the old days; what with being designed for laptops and portability these days. The odds of it damaging itself are only fractionally lowered by being off, besides most systems power down the hdd when its not in use to save power. So basically: stop worrying and just walk around with it, you don't need to sleep it just to move to the next room or w/e Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue

Sbrideau
I'm not sure the time it takes really is because of the computer. Then again it's a thinkpad... I know that it can take time depending on the router as well. For example my laptop connects instantly to my router after sleeping, but when I'm at my parent's place, where they have a router given by their ISP, it takes my laptop about 3 minutes to connect. Dazzuh
All computer hardware can become faulty over time or even arrive faulty and just take time to 'show' their faults, so I doubt moving your laptop around had anything to do with it. If your laptop isn't robust enough to be moved (what they are built for) then you need to buy a decent laptop. Currently not active on RuneScape.
