April 7, 201115 yr Both of these photo's could have been really good if you had just done some minor things to each... 1. To me, it almost looks like the petal is ever so slightly out of focus, and it is slightly distracting to me. But, apart from that, good photo :thumbup:2. Two things bug me with this. First, it's not even straight :( I have never seen this before in my life, but I doubt that that house was built with the lean on it... Second, if the background was just a little bit blurred, this would have looked a whole heck of a lot better, and created more of a focal point which would have made it easier to distinguish a subject. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
April 7, 201115 yr Yeah for the second I think a better depth of field would have made it a lot better.
April 7, 201115 yr You can take pictures of tobacco farms.. Seriously though, I don't think a statue will win you a contest. You can try a sunset over a farm or a large field, action shot of horses, a cowboy, etc
April 7, 201115 yr These are snapshots, nothing more. All I see in the first photo is a lot of yellow, then a spot of purple and some brown. The only reason this could even be slightly appeal to someone would be the almost reasonable DOF.The second one is just... sharp shadows, horrible composition and DOF. I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking at. Why not do a collage? I think the horse statuettes would look good in a soft lighting environment close-up with a shallow DOF (maybe just the heads, front-on but at an angle). Gather some more colourful photos with shallow DOF or soft lighting. Maybe a restaurant at dusk (dark blue sky, after sunset but not yet pitch black, with people inside and lights on etc). Cars could work also. Houses are fine, as long as they're not private houses; it's not illegal, but you don't want to piss anyone off. Also with collages you need good colour contrast so get photos of things which are primarily red, yellow, blue, green etc - the restaurant image could count for a blue photo. Assemble them like thumbnails with black bordering between each. Incorporate landscape and portrait orientation photos. Place opposite colours close to each other. No offence, Latios, but that doesn't sound any better than the existing photos, which aren't great. What's already been said essentially covers my opinion of the photos. No. 1 has potential in that is has an interesting subject, and alright colours, but the composition is meh, and over all, kinda blurry. It is a static shot, and I don't really want to look at it.
April 8, 201115 yr I'm trying to find an example of what I was trying to portray but I can't seem to find anything. IRC Nick: Hiroki | 99 Agility | Max Quest Points | 138 CombatBandos drops: 20 Hilt | 22 Chestplate | 21 Tassets | 14 Boots
