April 15, 201115 yr No. Buying items undermines everyone's achievements that had actually worked for it. But everyone else before me has done a great job of blasting that point loud and clear, so... *ahem* Buying items in RuneScape would basically be equivalent to Jagex throwing in the towel, and surrendering to RWT. This would not only go back on their word which was given back in 2007, but also irreversibly destroy the trust with everyone who supported Jagex's anti-RWT measures. They would, essentially, bank on the 2-hour gamers who'd spend fistfuls of cash up front but refuse to stay for very long. So no, I don't think that buying items should be permitted. Personally speaking, I don't think I'd ever forgive Jagex for that. April 15, 201115 yr No, I despise microtransactions. I'd probably quit if they introduced that crap in RS.
April 15, 201115 yr Just a follow-up on those "JCoins", seen earlier. Found this on the Jagex site: What are JCoins? JCoins are the new virtual currency from Jagex. At the present time, JCoins can only be spent on WoLCash and to repay owed debts. Alphanos
April 16, 201115 yr The only thing I'm willing to pay for in RS is my membership; anything else I'll just invest the time to get in-game. I mean, it's not THAT hard, it just takes some patience and dedication, which seem to be lacking in all areas of life - both virtual and real - these days. Games shouldn't take dedication. It's a game. You should play it for fun. However, with that said, paying money for in game items would be ridiculous. I can't believe that people do it. Although I have a theory that some people do it in order to gamble, ie they buy a maxed account, they buy gold, and then they stake. Gives better odds than the casino, except for that fact that people can cheat, and you always pay more for gp than you can sell it for. So I guess that ruins that theory...
