What people know about so far:

 

-Classic Sonic is in this game!

-Remember the daytime levels in Unleashed and the platforming in Colors? Modern Sonic's levels uses elements from these.

-Seems like Classic Sonic gameplay really is like Classic Sonic this time. Even the tiniest details are like this!

-Old levels from Sonic 1, 2, 3&K, and Adventures 1 and 2 will have remakes in this game as well.

-This is only available on the HD consoles (PS3/Xbox360) as seen from the trailer. Sorry Wii fans :(

-This is also available for the 3DS for all you Nintendo fans, and it seems like it would be ported to Project Cafe as well.

-Seems like other characters like Tails, Knuckles and Shadow will make appearances too.

 

In addition to this, there are other Sonic titles in development as well. Sonic 4 episode 2, Sonic 3DS, and the new Mario & Sonic. Nothing is released for these, though.

 

With the recent successes of Sonic 4 and Sonic Colors, this can only get better from here. :D

Very interesting. Will be keeping an eye on it just for those two (they were the best imo).

Older Sonic is ftw. 'nuff said.

I find it amusing people are already complaining about this, aparently the original sonic didn't have thopse buckels or w/e on it's shoes, and fans are already harping on it :lol:

Same as that other one except with no interview, and that there's a bit more in the Modern Sonic section.

 

So it seems like combo tricking is still present, and it apparently can overfill your boost gauge.

 

Also getting hit makes you lose 50 rings. Harsher than Unleashed's 20 rings but at least it's better than Colors where you lose all your rings.

So is this a 2D or 3D sonic?

 

Or both?

From my understanding, you use Modern sonic when you play 3D and classic for 2D stages.

I've always had a spot in my heart for sonic. Not because of the fact that he's an awkward-looking franchise mascot, but because, imo, he's the mascot for all those people who want to rip off marvel comics (think about it, a blue hedgehog...a red-suited man who runs really fast...). Sad that this sonic game isn't available on wii, seeing as nintendo has more or less catered to sonic entirely since it debuted back in 1991.

Well, apparently Sega's reason of why Sonic Generations won't be on the Wii is because it's HD, lol.

Although I'm one of those Wii only people as well I can perfectly understand why it's difficult to port this to the Wii. The PS3 can barely handle the Hedgehog Engine, it obviously won't work for Wii.

Shows that the red rings from Sonic Colors MIGHT make a return as well! :thumbsup:

I'm actually genuinely excited for a Sonic game for the first time in God knows how many years. I've played all the Sonic games (my friend always gets them first day and I go over to his house so we can see how bad it is), and Sonic Colors was actually really good, which surprised the crap out of me. This looks pretty good as well, though we all know that 3D sonic can lead to problems. I don't see how Sonic Team could screw up 2D Sonic. Hopefully we aren't going to find out there's some sort of gimmick later on.

 

Otherwise, I'm going to add this to my list of "Maybes'".

Based on Unleashed Day stages + DLC, as well as Colors, I really don't see how Sonic Team can really screw over 3D Sonic now.

 

Over the years Sonic Team have definitely listened to the fans. The classic section expands and improves upon Sonic 4 episode 1, and the modern section is basically Unleashed day and Colors built upon.

If it's going to be retail for the 360 too and not a XBLA title i might aswell buy the 3DS version, extra portability is always nice.
