ive been told GWD is good money but i dont see how as the items dont drop every-time and it looks like you spend a few 100k a trip.

It's not the best money, only mediocre, it costs more then that much per trip and drops are worth more then enough to cover those costs.

im not planning on doing it now its just it seems like you would lose money untill you got a huge drop

You do lose money until you get a big drop. However the drops more than make up for supplies used in the long run.
