Crossed_Body
How does its aggressiveness work?
Soma2035
The Corporeal beast's aggressiveness has two general "states." One of them is rather ordinary - it'll focus on and attack one player. It can still stomp other players, and one of its attacks has splash, which can still hit others too. The other state is referred to by many terms. I've personally heard wild, confused, berserk, zerk, angry, and evil. Call it whatever you like, but it means that the Corporeal beast will typically go from target to target. If the Corporeal beast is in the ordinary state of aggressiveness and is hit sufficiently hard (300+), it will usually change targets to attack whoever dealt that hit. I'm not too sure what triggers his less controlled style of aggressiveness, but it usually happens right as he spawns, or while he's switching targets. In either case, it usually lasts a few seconds before he just picks a target and settles on him/her. Want to learn to Nex? The Nex Hunters are recruiting! Click for more information! My theory is that the player that inflicts the highest damage has a higher chance of getting attacked by the beast. When all players are inflicting similar damage, the beast starts rotating between players. There can, of course, be a random variable that I can't account for. Anybody else have any input on this? Ned
I'd say that's probably true. Usually when someone ruby specs (hits 1000) the beast changes targets and focuses on them. Also I've noticed that after I've hit high damage many times successfully he will usually switch to me. Want to help the Tip.It Crew? Visit the Website Updates & Corrections forum! Soma2035
I'm not sure I understand your question now. Are you implying it's based on whichever player has the highest damage output up to that point? Because that's definitely false. I once went with a friend, duo-ing just for fun. I figured I'd use Divine / Rapier to see how well I could tank. Turns out, the Corporeal beast spent the entire kill attacking my friend pretty much, besides a few random streaks and after my friend died/teled. We did this 3-4 times with the same results - I got every drop. Having highest damage dealt to the Corporeal beast doesn't affect aggressiveness, nor is it damage in a certain amount of time, as I hit several good chains of 200+. Want to learn to Nex? green9090
Based on what I saw during a whole hell of a lot of FFA corp, this is how I think it works: Every once in a while, his aggro will be randomly set. This happens whenever it spawns and more throughout the kill. When this happens it will either decide to target one person, or decide to go into random tank mode. Either way, his aggro can then be forced to one person by them dealing a significant amount of damage in a small amount of time. If I had to guess I'd say there's a cooldown bar, and all damage done goes into it. When one player fills it by hitting consistently well or one very high hit (ruby bolt specs usually will do this), they force aggro toward themself. Corp will stay on that person either until somebody else forces aggro away, or until its aggro is randomly reassigned and he goes to a random person or back into random tank mode. Tl;dr: he usually attacks you if you do a lot of damage, but sometimes randomly attacks other people.
