In short, I have an f2p pure with 40/64/1 melees, 54 hp, 31 prayer, 26 mage (going to get up), and 40 range. Combat level 51

 

Right now I'm holding my own against range 2h-ers, but I still feel at a slight disadvantage with the prayer.

 

So here are the questions.

 

1) At what strength level does 31 prayer give me an advantage over other similar builds?

2) If I turn this guy p2p, what would be some good builds? I don't mind putting effort into a solid build, but I would prefer not to aim for endgame 90+ stats considering I still want to spend the majority of my time on my main. Right now I'm thinking of a gmauler.

40 attack, 31 prayer. With 60 strength & 50 hp that ends up as 49 combat. You can also use 15% strength for a while of course (about 93 seconds without prayer bonus). So your effective strength is 69. 69 str 1 prayer is one level lower than you.

 

80 strength & 92 strength with & without prayer respectively are the same combat level, approx. That assumes you got the same hp level, which you would have to train through ranged and magic.

 

You probably need even higher strength to make prayer worth it, as you can lose the boost, got to recharge every kill, and get a lot less hp xp.

Thanks for the answer. It sounds like getting the prayer levels wasn't such a great idea in hindsight. Is there anything I can do with his stats assuming I get p2p in the future? Surely there are p2p builds that comprise higher level prayer stats.

In p2p there is the 30 defence 95 prayer turmoil pure which can easily be expanded to a 45 defence turmoil zerker. Other than that there is the chaotic pure which requires protect item.
