Community Status Updates

Hello, Tip.It Staff...

 

A short time ago, I tripped over the "Community Status Updates" page at http://forum.tip.it/statuses/all... However, it wasn't until the last day or two that I got to thinking, "Why isn't this page linked up to the forum front like just about everything else is? Why is it so heavily buried?"... So, if anyone knows, could you please post back here and tell me? :huh:

 

Also, I had an idea just in-case it wasn't meant to be buried like this... Could we have a link up top by "Tracker" or something that would allow the entire TIF Community to be able to get to this page? Being able to quickly access the other half of it, the "My Friends' Updates" (which you can imagine obviously filters by a user's friends list) section, could be quite handy and useful to lots of users here on the forum. :idea:

Probably because it's a fairly poinless part of the forum. If you really want to know someone's status, then you can simply visit their profile as opposed to seeing everyone's. :thumbup:

Rainy, I really don't think it's that pointless at all. Would you rather spend (and lose) time having to manually steer to 20-50+ profiles? Or, would you rather that you could save time because all the recent updates from your friends were all in one page to view quickly? :?:

If we add another link to the top we're starting to get a bit wide for people with smaller resolutions anyway.

Been there, done that... Started this thread because of both the annoyance, and because I was thinking of everyone else on the forums. (Jokingly put, I'm not too dim of a lightbulb!) ;)

Now that one, I'll admit didn't totally dawn on me because I'm at 1024x768, and I forgot about those still at 800x600... :wall:

 

I know I'm probably going to have to wait for Peter to show up at this discussion thread, but I'll leave my next question up in the air for all to see anyway. Are there any other suitable places that a link to the page could be easily placed at, which would also fit properly within the forum's current layout? Further, if there aren't any easy places available, are there any that could still be worked with? :idea:

I know some forums have Recent Status Updates listed in the Additional Content sidebar. Perhaps it can be looked into enabling this on these forums. Only problem with it could be advertising/people spamming status updates but I'm sure we could deal with it like any other part of the forum.
