Barrows advice/questions

So I've got a couple of questions about barrows, mainly about improvements/suggestions on my set up, but I'll get to them afterwards.. For now, this is how I'm currently doing barrows

 

Equipment - Verac helm - Torag platelegs&platebody - d boots - obby cape - rfd gloves - black salamander

 

Inventory - 12 x saradomin brews - 4 x super restores

~2-3 prayer potions (not strict) - 1 x restore potion - spade - dds - sharks

 

So with this set up, I can comfortably do 8 chests per run, max ever is 11.

Before it starts, I know it's expensive but I've never ever come out with less than 300k profit from runes, it's usually 500-600k without any barrows items.

 

So question 1)

What areas could I improve my method on, is there better equipment, a better invent set up?

Question 2) I've only got 74 defence, will it make a worthwhile difference getting it to ~85?

question 3) at my levels would a staff of light be better than a black Sally?

Question 4) why am I having so much trouble killing Karil recently???

 

Okay question 4 isn't exactly serious, I guess I'll put that down to bad luck etc...

 

But yeah, any help would be appreciated :-)

1) Lose the dragon boots and obsidian cape, use mystic and god cloak instead (cloak is free, mystic boots are cheaper than dragon even).

2) Freeze the melee brothers and sidestep.

3) Considering the above, lose the healing and heavy armour, instead focus more on magic accuracy and damage.

4) Considering the above, do not tank Karil or Ahrim, but instead pray on them. Bring a good ranged weapon (Karil's crossbow) for Ahrim.

5) Considering the above, bring more pray pots.

Okay so say I decide to freeze them, is it worth attacking them diagonally with black Sally or bring staff of light and cast slayer bolts?

Attack them diagonally with the sally on the mage setting.

Sally ammo is much cheaper then comparatively good spells. Also with this method you will be using less expensive supplies and will likely be having faster chests.
