Another Slice of H.A.M. - the stealth section

From the guide:

Find the two warriors in the Lumbridge Swamp - they are at the entrance to the Caves, due west of the water altar. Speak to either of them, then go down the entrance to the caves. Just south of you is an opening with a ladder - go down it as well to arrive in the H.A.M. tunnels. One guard will go for reinforcements while two more battle the goblin warriors. If any guard sees you, or the final guard attacks you, you will be thrown out, ending up right next to the entrance to the Caves. Tell one goblin to stay, then lead the other through the door to the south, and hide.

Wait for all the guards to arrive and attack the other goblin, then lead the one with you through the door, to the end of the dungeon, where a guard is, so the goblin will attack the guard.

I found this very vague, and the method described didn't really work with me. Here's what worked for me:

 

1) Talk to the goblins as soon as the guard runs off. Tell one of them to stay, and lead the other into the side room.

2) Once the first two guards have engaged the goblin you left behind, leave the room and walk into the hallway with the crates. A new yellow dot will appear on the minimap, walking towards you.

3) Move back towards the door, and head north. Make sure the goblin following you is to the south of you. The guard coming around the corner will see him first and engage him.

4) Head towards the fourth guard. As soon as his dot on the minimap starts moving, run back towards the side door but do not enter it. Stand behind the goblin fighting the third guard, and the fourth guard will start fighting him too. If the guard gets stuck behind the crates, lead him around it like you would another aggressive monster.

it's been a while since anyone was able to do this quest and confirm this, so apologies that it's taken so long.

 

I did the quest yesterday, and I made sure to check out this part of the guide. I did it trying to follow the guide, and I found it to be a bit vague too.

 

There seem to be a number of ways to complete this part of the quest, regarding the attacking goblins.

 

I've edited to clarify what worked for me, which is mostly what you said as well.
