1)If i want to be a good pker..Should I raise Def???

2)How Def works?

3)If i get my def to 40 it would raise my combat lvl by 10...is that worth?

ok, now those are my stats:

Character type: Ranger

Combat lvl: 32

Rang lvl: 45

mage lvl: 42

str lvl: 31

atack lvl: 34

Praying lvl: 1

Def lvl: 1

Hp lvl: 41

Well, actually i dont know if play like a pure str warrior, like a mage, or like a ranger. i want to be a good pker, but has i was training i get hit too often, so my question is, if i raise my def lvl to 40 i will not get hit that often, but my combat lvl will be 10 lvls higer, something like this:

Combat lvl: 42

Rang lvl: 45

mage lvl: 42

str lvl: 31

atack lvl: 34

Praying lvl: 1

Def lvl: 40

Hp lvl: 41

1)Is it worth it????

2)Can someone explain me how def exactly works???

3)Do u like my hp lvl?? xD

thats all i hope some1 can help me

2) Raising def increases the chance that attackers(Melee/range) will hit 0 on you.

-It also slightly increases the chance mages will hit 0 on you ( 30% or so )

-Having higher def lets you wear better armor which would work exactly like the def skill (Higher chance for attackers to hit 0 on you).

If someone does hit you however, defense does nothing to reduce the damage you take.

Well, if you really want defence, get it when your range is 80-90...

Without defence though, you can be a level 50 with 80 range. :?

Not sure about that guy saying something about a level 50 with a 99 stat...My friend's 49 combat 73 mage, that's the best I know of.

yeah a lot of ppl told me to not get def, cause it only raises ur combat level, now a lot of ppl are telling me that im a dead body without def, and i should get it at least to 40 and that it is worth the 10 levels ir raises ur combat lvl, so im still confused xD

I think that part of your confusion is because you are getting advice from 2 different Runescape eras.

In RSC, the idea was to kill the other guy as fast as possible

since they couldn't run until 3 rounds of combat happened.

Hence, you wanted to out-damage the other guy with high Strength and Good attack.

You didn't need much Defense if the other guy is already dead from 3 of your hits.

In RS(2), players can run away as soon as combat starts.

There are not automatically stuck for 3 rounds anymore.

So, if a player plans to PK, he has to be prepared

for an enemy that is not gonna die in 3 rounds.

Hence, he "needs" some defense if he's gonna stay around and fight.

Now different PKers have different strategies and

styles and some want Defense and others do not.

I suggest that you try PKing with low defense for

awhile and see how well it works for you.

If you don't like the results, then go ahead

and get some Defense levels and try again.

Each 4 Defense levels give 1 combat level,

each 4 HitPoint levels give 1 combat level, and

each 8 Prayer levels give 1 combat level.

Hope this helps.
