Fight Caves task

Hi, just got assigned my first tzhaar task which i was eagerly awaiting, and am now wondering which method is best for me, now that melee has become a viable method.

My stats are: 83 att 95 str 85 def, 99 range, 70 prayer, 84 herb (sup att and str)

I have a chaotic rapier and access to reasonable gear (ie. barrows, zam book, eee, fsh)

So basically haven't done fight caves in about 2 years wondering what would be the best setup for me and also wondering what the major changes to the caves are?

also any guides would be great

If i were you i'd just range it. Melee is very difficult to do, especially without soulsplit, and after a 2 year break you'd be lucky to do it even with range (jad himself has changed since then)

I'm only 75 range and i prefer that to my almost maxed melee.

Sure, try melee when you don't have 25k bonus slayer xp on the line, but it's not worth risking when you do :P

Erm Powerfrog, melee is very easy to do, with or without soul split, and at 75 range you'd be lucky to complete the Fight Caves before you die of old age.

You should wear high ranged defence, strength bonus, some prayer bonus and melee defence, and some accuracy bonus. That works out to rapier/defender/Bandos/sw cape/slayer helmet and such. Barrows works fine too.

Bring two or three extreme pure sets, ee, 15 ppots, the rest brews or rocktail depending on your confidence.

Melee is definitely the way to go. As for what to actually to do in the cave, you want to kite the 360s. When you see their mage attack leave their tail, click attack and then immediately click one square behind you to step back. This prevents them from hitting you with melee (since you lack soul split, you won't be given as much room for error though EEE should still be more than plenty for healing purposes if you make some mistakes). Oh, and don't be a spastic and run halfway across the room like I've seen in some video guides, that just wastes prayer and attack turns.

Always try to trap 180s if you can, they can still dish out some melee damage if you take too long with the Ket-Zek. 90s shouldn't be much of a problem, they only have 400 hp anyways.

As for Jad, default pray to magic when the wave begins. Note this is unlike the ranging method, where it is recommended to pray range. This is due to melee armour having high range defence but low mage defence.

During the fight, always pray melee. Switch prayer as appropriate (listen for magic, look for range... you can also look for magic actually, but make sure you switch before the fireball leaves Jad's neck or you'll take the hit), then when the splat shows up on your character immediately go back to praying melee. You have plenty of time to block his far distance attacks, but his melee is too fast and it hits hard enough to not be worth taking a risk. Don't bother with distracting the healers, Jad has low defence anyways so you should finish him off quickly.

Good luck!

I guess i just suck at kiting. I always seem to be hit.

And how do you kill jad? Isn't his melee attack much faster? I personally struggle to handle prayer switching his slow range/mage attacks.

Just so you know I failed, it was the 360's just too many mistakes from inexperience.

But now I feel that next time I could probably manage it if Jad goes well.

DEFINATELY use melee its so much quicker, and once you get into a rhythm the 360's are alright.

The higher your stats get the more you'll find that the caves are a joke. At 95+ prayer, using the best gear, you only need 3 spots for overloads, 1 for special weapon (2 if you bring eee as well) and 7 spots for super prayers. So you can bring like 15 brews or a full gear switch or vengeance runes or whatever random stuff you can think of and get hit by jad multiple times and still make it. Good luck on your next attempt :).

15 brews is so overkill, bring fletching stuff tbh and get some xp in between kites
