Vampires Vs Vampyres

Vampire 2 and 3 both also use the same new look vampire 1 has been updated too.

 

Vampire 1, vampire 2 and rev vampire have all become Vampyre.

Vampire 3 is still Vampire though.

I've heard reports Ravenous Vampire has also been changed to Vampyre, but can't personally confirm

Strange weren't these correctly named vampires because you could kill them without silver etc.?

And someone should keep track if count Draynor is also named a vampyre now (If it is needed anywhere on the tip.it site, like the quest guide)

The quest is stilled named Vampire Slayer, but presumably this and the GWD are an oversite, seems odd they'd change allllllll but thoose 2

It seems in the KB every instance of vampire has been changed to vampyre (we even have the vampyre slayer quest now) so perhaps next update will change the rest of the things ingame.

Off the top of my head a few other vampires that might change are:

 

Dessous

Malak

Fishing Contest vampire

Vampire bat pouch & scroll

 

Though I'm sure there are lots more that I can;t remember. Kind of a shame to see the vampire go though..

In KB Vampire Bat hasn't changed, but the rest certainly have you are right.

I dunno if vampire bat would change as it is a reference to a irl creature and in-game it doesn't have strong links to the vampyres; but then again would it make sense to have a vampire bat and no vampires.

We've noticed this, too. As the vampyre slayer quest is still called vampire slayer in game (it was last time I checked anyway), there's no doubt quite a few inconsistencies in game that will be smoothed out with the next update. As such, we've decided to let this slide until then - having to check things twice for something so relatively insignificant would be a bit of a waste of time.

 

Feel free to keep posting things where vampyres/vampires appear in game. Should minimize the risk of us missing obscure stuff such as the fishing contest vampyre.

Tbh I think We've covered them all other than the vampire guy you see before you go to Dessous (or is tht Malak?)

Would it not save time to update the ones confirmed to of changed so that crew won't accidentally waste time re-checking them at a later date when remaining flaws have been ironed out?

 

I mean we have 3 names and 2 graphical updates 100% confirmed, even if you ignore vampire 3 as it seems an naming oversight there's 3 entries (vampire 1, 2 and rev) that can be completed.

Heck even if you ignore the naming and just do graphics since Vampire 1 has already been changed and that same image applies to 2 and 3.

 

Then just have a list of extras to keep an eye on:

Vampire (it'd be on the only one left hence lack of number)

Ravenous Vampire

Count Draynor/Vampire Slayer

Vampire Bat/Vampirism Scroll

Fishing Contest Vampire

Malak

Dessous

With the last update the Vampyre Bat items and the GWD Vampyres have also been updated. We should've replaced all mentions of Vampire with Vampyre now. Thanks for your help :)

Also Dessous doesn't show when searching Vampyre in beastiary; which is a minor issue. But if Count Draynor does, surely he should.

Same applies to both Vanstrom's.

That's odd. They should automatically be renamed when a monster's name changes. I restored the old images, thanks.

Ideally you would use the race drop-down to search for, say, "all vampyres". The fact that the search turns up Count Draynor is probably because the word vampyre is mentioned somewhere in the location or notes box - it tends to cough up a lot of [cabbage] you probably weren't looking for, sadly. Try searching for 'man' :-P it may be worthwhile to add a "vampyre" race, as there's a fair few of them now, and they're not really undead as the salve amulet doesn't work against them (iirc). I'll discuss this with the crew. Both Vanstroms are undead now, for the time being.

As noted in my original post vampyre 2 and 3 need image updates still , they match the appearance of vampyre 1

Oh and I noticed some more incosistencies:

Vanescula Drakan, Vyrelord, Vyrelady and Vyrewatch -7- are all under humanoid opposed to undead

Vyrewatch -6- is under animal

 

Also mis-numbering:

Original vyrewatch should be vyrewatch -1-

And in the numbering there is no vyrewatch -5- (so 6 should be 5 and 7 should be 6)

 

Definitely seems like vampyre as a race would be a good move. 28 of them exist atm (19 when you search vampyre + dessous and vanstrom*2 + 3 under humanoid + 1 under animal) which is larger than some of the race groupings you use (only 9 elven and 7 plant).

 

Kinda a tangent and would be a fairly large job, but seems like it may be worthwhile: Add some sort of note/section about Salve application. Afterall there's a fair few undead is doesn't work on and if memory serves a few non-undead's it does work on.

Vampyre race-group will be added shortly. I didn't take care of your original post so I missed the bit about the vampire -2- and -3- looks, I'll just re-use that image. I'll go over the numbering, too (edit: turns out one variant was removed as it no longer existed, that explains)

 

Salve amulet will be something for the future I suppose.
