I just installed win XP on my computer, and its a kinda old computer.

 

 

 

And the problem is, its well... lagging, taking a long time to start up msn-screens and stuff like that

 

 

 

i got intel pentium III, 800 mhz with 256mb RAM

 

 

 

(yes iknow... not alot)

 

 

 

and i was wondering... is the low ram or the slow pentium causing this lag?

 

 

 

And a 2nd Q, if i should upgrade it, what do you suggest buying?

 

 

 

(i dont wanna spend alot of money, so dont make it like "ÃÆÃâÃâüber 1337" ^.^)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

EDIT: as far as i know, i have SD-ram ... or whatever that means ^^;

take your computer to bestbuy or such.. it might cost more to have htem install it but its worth it since your not much of a user :)

depends how long you plan to keep it, if you want to upgrade to vista you will definatly need a brand new computer, so buy the extra 256mb stick and then save up a bit of money.

He should probably check the max amount of RAM his mobo can hold. Mine could only hold 512mb

my old 1.4 amd compy could hold 512. Perhaps download cpu-z, that will tell you the type of ram you have, and also if you have more than one slot for ram on your motherboard.

I Dont really intend in using it for playing games, its just for anime because my dad wont let me download anything on the family computer.
