Barrows drop rate and kill count

Yeah,

 

I've been doing few runs of barrows as nothing else of the bonus doesn't really interest me that much (well dungeoneering to some extent but can't be really bothered now), so it only got me wondering. What is the rate to get item from chest considering you kill 6 brothers (leaving one - torag)?

 

And how does the monster killcount actually affect your loot? Is it better to just rush through to kill all the brothers and loot, or should you kill monsters for higher kc?

I believe the avg is 1 in 17 or 18 for a barrows drop (I personally have awful luck and haven't had any in 67 chests)

 

As for KC, you need

 

2 for a chance at bloods

3 for a chance at bolt racks

5 for a chance at half keys

6 for a chance at dragon meds

 

You could get 0 KC and still get a barrows drop though.

Also, with the new neclace, barrows runs are speedier than any time in the past, so getting kill count is compensated by the necklace.

Getting the KC provides a steady constant income, with the additional bonus of barrows items.

 

If you're there for just fun and tryng your luck, just kill the brothers.

You get no better chance at a barrows item by killing 7 brothers as opposed to killing 6. People tend to leave torag as his items are worth less.

 

While the new necklace makes barrows faster than in the past, this doesn't change whether you'd be better off by doing more runs or less runs with a kill count.

7 KC tends to be the best, IMO anyways.

How are Barrows drop rates affected by the new brother? By killing him, do you have an increased of getting all of the pieces or only his set?

 

Mod Chris L: The barrows have some unique drop mechanics. Akrisae being in the barrows has not increased the chance of you getting all of the other pieces. As with the existing behaviour, you can only get Akrisae's gear from the chest if you killed the Akrisae barrow wight beforehand. This being said, his appearance has resulted in some interesting possibilities. The "best" chance at getting barrows gear from the chest is if 6 Barrows brothers have been killed. This still stands. So, for example, if you know you don't want any of Karil's gear, you can completely skip killing him, kill Akrisae and the other brothers (resulting in 6 wight kills) then head down to the chest where you stand the same "best" chance, except you've now removed the chance to get the gear you don't want."

 

From the FAQ after the update, sadly I don't have a picture, but a forum user did copy out the text and I remember seeing the original post. It's a shame Jagex delete the FAQ's from their forums.
