November 21, 201114 yr Are they outdated gear or is it worth recharging and training range on caged monsters? (i.e greater demons)
November 21, 201114 yr As far as I know, they are outdated. Karil's x-bow gives the most damage per second against a single target, unless you need the special effects of bolts, where you'd use a rune or chaotic crossbow. If you want to train cheap, (and slightly in-efficient) you'd use crossbows with cheaper bolts like broads. And if you want fast ranged experience, Chinchompas are what you could use. If you want to use the crystal bow though, make sure you're using two of them, shooting 240-249 shots with a fully charged one, before changing to the other one for a few shots until it degrades, then change back to the fully charged one again. This is because charges on crystal equpiment is saved on you personally, and not on the bow. This way you can continue shooting with a fully charged bow, which gives better stats than degraded ones.
November 21, 201114 yr Tbh crystal bows were never in-dated.From release they were so slow MSB was still a nicer choice. But yeah crossbows certainly top dog these days, the bolt effects etc make them awesome. So its pretty much chins > karil > rune c bow? I've returned from a long break, so not sure if anything other than a chatoic crossbow and zyrite bow is the new thing.. I just never thought of bolt racks to be cost effective
November 21, 201114 yr I remember crystal bows being used for very very early firecape attempts, however I think barrows was out before firecape so it may have just been bad guides/people using the crystal bow for it. Other then that so outdated.

I just never thought of bolt racks to be cost effective It depends entirely on the situation. Chins are on the top for training ranged. Karil's is expensive, but good if the target isn't high defence. Tormented demons comes to mind. I'd never use karils for training, as it would not be cost effective, as you said.(I forgot mentioning the hand cannon, which I've heard is very good, but I haven't tried it myself, since you practically need 99 firemaking for it to be useable.)If what you're fighting has high defence, then regular crossbows might be better than karils crossbow, and they are kind of the standard issue for ranging.
November 21, 201114 yr Was the best weapon for fight caves back in the day... mainly because it was only 72gp per shot, maintainable at full power w/ 2 bows, and most importantly it had the furthest distance compared to all other alternatives. The distance factor alone made luring/safespotting a walk in the park.
November 21, 201114 yr Yeah, it was difficult hitting the healers with a karils xbow because you might run too close to Jad. ~~~The Harpy List~~~Harpy Facts~~~It's Super Effective~~~The Beginning~~~Harpy Therapy Center~~~Alg~~~Jedi Harpy~~~Rohirrim~~~Attenuation~~~
November 22, 201114 yr I use my crystal bow for opening DK doors if Im 2.5ing w/o range, as I don't have to worry about buying/bringing anything else. I dont know what other efficient use it has these days. DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers ringsQBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow partsCR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size....It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).
