Bypassing blocked ports on a company firewall

Featured Replies

My office blocks the ports necessary to play RS and being the closet hacker I am, I was reading about how to bypass that kind of block and found an interesting article:

http : //sebsauvage.net/punching/

It discusses creating a secure HTTP proxy tunnel through your home computer/internet connection to send all traffic through port 80 at work (which isn't blocked). I'm not sure if this would work with a Java Applet but I was wondering if 1) anyone has any experience with this and 2) if there is a thread that already discusses this, where is it?

Thx!

Bypassing the firewall put in place by work is in violation of the computer internet and email usage policy that you would have signed when you started work there. Don't say you didnt sign one because you probably did without realising. If you break it, its a sackable offence. Good luck... but you wont find help here

So is posting here, what's your point? I didn't post the question to get an ethics lesson. You don't know where I work or what I signed. I know what I signed and if I want to violate any agreement it's my choice.

I never said I would do it either, just that I wanted to learn about how to do it and if it worked with Java Applets. Jeeeesh! Lighten up.

Well you obviously didnt read these forum rules on posting this kind of question then did you? Because then you'd know that we arn't allowed to help answer it.

I work in Government and know all the ICT related protocols that businesses have to have these days. My advice... dont break it over something so stupid as playing Runescape.

Okay, I give, what rule does this violate?? I looked through all the rules and guidelines and couldn't find any rule against how to set up a secure http proxy. Please enlighten me Mr. Government Worker.

Two of the biggest oxymorons in the English language:

Military Intelligence, and

Government Worker. ;-)

Dont patronise me and my job, you have no idea what I do anymore than I know what you do. I'd much rather be an oxymoron than just a moron.

Discussing the bypassing of block and filters put in place by parents, schools and work is not permitted here. Go ask an admin if you dont belive me.

You want us to help you violate your company rules? I don't think so. You seem like a pretty smart guy, try using the search button if you really want to get fired.

Sorry but the words "parent", "school", and "work" appear nowhere(!) in the forum rules, maybe you imagined the rule??? I'd invite a mod to speak up because if it *is* against the rules, then the rules need to state so more clearly.

And *patronize* you?? That's not what I was doing at all! You need a dictionary, pal. I was poking fun at gov't workers and military intelligence. That's not patronizing anyone. Patronizing is being condescending to someone. I am not assuming an air of superiority over gov't workers or military intelligence. I'm simply stating that gov't workers hardly work, and military intelligence is anything but intelligent. Is that so hard to grasp? I never said I work harder or was more intelligent, did I?? For all you know I may be a gov't worker. Albeit, with a better sense of humor than you, of course....

Oh, I have pretty good idea of what you do (*Cough* bureaucrat! *Cough*). I happen to be a professional (paid) hacker at a government agency of whose buildings you will most certainly never see the inside of.

So unless you have any useful information about the entitled topic at hand, please stop spamming my post! Thank you.

Now go ask any mod or admin, they will not allow the discussion of bypassing blocks.

Go talk to your network admin if you want to play a game at work.

Heh, and you're the one wanting to play games at work? 'Nuff said.
