February 20, 201214 yr I've recently noticed that for the first time ever, my herbs cycles were messed. Now, assuming that they advantage in a 20 minutes clock (and yes, taking into account the 1-3 minutes delays) this was the situation: - (1troljheim was ready, 2ecto 3catherby werent, 4ardy 5draynor were ready). Now, this was at at 14:47. The herbs should be ready at 14:40, or at 15:00 (once again, assuming the 1-3 minutes delay). Even taking into account the effect of disease on cycles, I found it weird.Asked a friend and she said that "A graphical update to trees managed to entirely stink farming. Farm cycles are now rarely reliable". Has anyone experienced this? I'll keep testing this to check if there has been indeed a change
February 20, 201214 yr What I know about the cycles is that if you log out during their growth time, the cycle restarts so that might be your problem. I've restarted farming and haven't had problems with it.Amulet of farming is tied to the last patch and I check if that's done before I start the farm run.
February 20, 201214 yr It's just luck.As mentioned log in and out restarts current farm tick for your account, which can delay things. Secondly farm ticks can happen mid run, eg something goes to stage 2 just after you planted it, depending on your planting order its possible that Trollheim, ardy and fally were planted just before a tick happened and moved to stage 2 while u were travelling to plant cathurby and ecto; putting thoose 2 plots a whole farm cycle behind the others. February 20, 201214 yr Author Thanks for all the information, but I know about logout-log in, disease, timing herb runs, and that. I have never had problems before. About luck, it isn't just luck. Assuming cycles, you can easily time herb runs (trees are a bit harder but still doable). And they advance a thick every 20minutes. I planted them between 13-10 and 13-15. Did hundred of herb runs so far and never had this problem. Most of my 99 exp is from herbs, so I'm used to the 1-3 minutes delays, and this kind of delay doesn't make sense. Besides, other people are reporting the same, and we're talking about people that are deeply knowledge of ticks, not lvl40 farmers. Since I started timing ticks I've never had this problem before, seems a bit weird that several people are reporting it now. When I have time I'll keep testing.
February 20, 201214 yr There's always the factor as well that last night when a log in server went offline and was rebooted it caused most of rs to crash and resulted in some erratic outcome.Eg many GE prices leapt up for no reason. And I don't put much faith in 'other people are reporting the same'; even high level farmers have been reporting ticks being messed up basically ever since farming came out because they happened to not have a tree take aaagggggges until that day or w/e.Plus farming ticks have always been known to be some what erratic on occasion so its hardly something new if something goes quirky. February 20, 201214 yr Author I'm not trying to create a "it's definitively a bug here!" thread. It's just I noticed this during a herb run, talked to some one, that person reported same issues, and saw some posts in forums about that, although most of those are "my papayas taking so long to grow", reason I decided to post it here to see if anyone has been experiencing the same since the update. I asked the person to supply more details about "graphical update that screwed farming". Besides, herb's are not that hard to confirm with cycles. I've been doing 5-6herbs runs a day for the last 2 months and never encountered this issue. About the erratic, most of the delays are noticeable yes. For example herbs becoming ready at 3 minutes after, or you're advancing to another cycle when you reach the last patch at 20:19 for example. First time I saw a 7 minutes delay though, especially since all the plants were located right in the middle of a stage (exactly 7mins after a tick and 5ish before next tick). The fact that the 3rd patch (in order of planting) was not ready and the last one was made me think about disease, but I camped there and 2 minutes after (still way before the next tick happens) the 2 remaining herbs advanced to final stage.´ Oh well, maybe it's just my impression or that influence you said about the reboot. Will test it carefully before assuming anything else.
February 20, 201214 yr Farming ticks occur every 501 ticks. Growth windows are 500 ticks long. Therefore, there's a possibility that no farming ticks will occur during the growth window and your crops won't grow.
