Zan Posted April 6, 2012 Share Posted April 6, 2012 So I came back after several years and find myself with a plethora of new things I can do to raise these two skills. Smithing in particular made me spend a considerable amount of time at the Blast Furnace though I'm not sure it's as viable and/or profitable as it used to be considering activities like the Lava Flow Mine were introduced. At 77 mining and and 79 smithing I was wondering where the ideal options for me are nowadays, taking into consideration time, speed, cost and revenue. Lord Paul Posted April 7, 2012 Share Posted April 7, 2012 Once you hit 80 mining, you can head over to the Living Rock Caverns and superheat the gold ore as you mine it. With goldsmithing gauntlets, it's pretty cheap smithing experience and also some of the best mining experience. Superheating doesn't interrupt the mining process as long as you don't cast it too fast. Your choice if you want to drop mine or just bank the bars in the deposit box down there. Zan Posted April 7, 2012 Author Share Posted April 7, 2012 I figure I can bump my mining up to 80 to mine there till I hit 99, though I doubt I'll waste my money superheating my ores down there when I can just as easily use the furnace in Edgeville or the Blast Furnace... Lord Paul Posted April 7, 2012 Share Posted April 7, 2012 Well if you are superheating, you can theoretically get 99 smithing with 0 time spent + decent magic xp. If you want to mine and then smelt in the furnace, it's more time that has to be spent. And it's not really that expensive.. Natures used to be worth around 300 a few years ago, but they currently are under 200 ea. The magic experience shouldn't be ignored here.
