Xems
Just wanted to know what the best overall method for ranging frost dragons is now. I've seen different set ups such as void vs armadyl. Hand cannon vs bane bolts.
enfield
it would be awesome if dragonbane bolts worked on them, but i don't think they do. The latest from rs wiki is:A few weeks after release, the patch notes stated "dragonbane bolts now work correctly against frost dragons". This was fixed, but later returned. if you're using a cannon then void and a chaotic crossbow would likely be best i think.
Xems
Aww, well that's disappointing. Well then Chaotic xbow with simply using broad bolts I'd assume?
Quyneax
No, broads are always a bad choice when making money! The best would be void deflector, swift gloves, chaotic crossbow and either dragonbane or runite bolts (depending on whether dragonbane works or not). enfield
swift gloves and void deflector? that is an interesting debate. I'm not sure the swift glove's effect is worth the 20 range attack you sacrifice (especially if the OP was using a cannon). my understanding of the swift gloves based on the limiting testing i did was that there was a certain chance that if you *were* to hit 2/3+ your max hit then *instead* you fired two shots (neither of which would have to be 2/3+ your max hit). So whether or not the special happens is applied after the calculation for damage (and if you aren't going to hit for 2/3+ your max then the chance is 0 it will happen). Therefore the special effect does not equate to 200% the damage of a normal shot, but rather 150%. and that plus the low frequency of the effect makes for only a marginal increase in dps. perhaps that is not how they work, though. what is your understanding, quyneax? you know, i just read the rs wiki page and i think i've interpreted their quote from jagex about the swift gloves wrong all along - maybe they mean if you hit 2/3+ your max then on your next hit the special may activate. I find it hard to say, though, given the last part of the quote. Jagex claims that there is a random chance, if you deal over two thirds of your maximum hit, that a special shot will fire two projectiles. Should one strike the enemy for a maximum hit, the enemy will be stunned. The special can activate even when hitting 0 and you can still stun your foe while hitting 0. This may just indicate that your accuracy roll was not high enough to hit, but your damage roll was high enough to activate the special. This special shot does not work with all ranged weapons and does not affect enchanted bolt effects.
Quyneax
Idk how swift gloves work, certainly not based on 66% or more of your max or whatever. You just get free bonus shots every now and then. Swift gloves work with almost every ranged weapon but not hand cannon iirc. The stun effect seems to be unrelated to max as well.
