I use Runescape official client that's made by Jagex.I have to restart client each time after accidentally clicking world map to get either opengl or directx to work. July 9, 201213 yr Don't open the world map would be the immediate solution to avoid the issue. More long-term it would appear some opengl/directx related bug on your system. Does the same issue occur in both opengl and direct x graphic modes? Have you got all the drivers up-to-date etc? July 9, 201213 yr I think its a known bug, and you'll probably find that it doesn't always happen (for a while I was getting it maybe every 5th time on average). The really annoying part for me when I get this is that I have to reload the game to get back out of safe mode. I don't know where to find it anymore, but I think it's a known bug. Not sure if it affects open gl or just direct x though. I had assumed they fixed it by now since I last got it weeks ago, but I've also not opened up the map in a while. The easiest way to deal with it if its bugging you is to use another world map that can be opened up in a tab, rather than the one in game (which also skips the super annoying load times for their map) such as ours, which can be found at http://www.tip.it/runescape/html/world_map.htm
July 9, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the replies.I should have all the drivers updated, also have deleted jagex cache earlier with no success. About not opening my map, I'd be glad to do so... but sometimes when I attempt to click on money pouch or minimap, I keep accidentally clicking world map, which leads to almost required reboot of client.I also click "world" map while dungeoneering a lot, which sometimes makes me keep clicking world map after floors too.
