Most efficient way EXP/Profit - Cannon Balls

Featured Replies

It's me, again... (Sorry, but after coming back from a long absence I need all the guidance I can get)

So I'm planning to get my smithing up to at least 54, and I'm planning to do Cannon balls in small chunks (say 300 steel bars at a time) to make it affordable and make a profit.

But I was wondering, is it better to buy the ores, smelt them into steel bars, and then make cannon balls? Will I get a higher return in experience/profit? Or will it be a lot slower, therefore buying the steel bars is the way to go

Thanks again for any help.

EDIT: My Smithing level is 40, Mining 41.

Its going to be such low profit anyway that you should buy the bars. Just make money and then use that money to train smithing faster.

I'm not too bothered about the profit side of it as long as I don't make a loss, so are cannon balls the way to go?

If you are doing cannonballs, finish Ghosts Ahoy and the Morytania Easy tasks, cballs become 2x as fast.

You will make more of a loss on cballs than other methods since you lose time which is used to make money.

Just buy the cballs.. as happyseeker said, time and money go hand in hand

At his levels it might be better to go with slower and profitable methods for now as he doesn't have many options of efficient moneymaking at the moment.

I'd say go with cannonballs but finish Morytania tasks first if you can.

Why would I want to buy Cannon balls? How does that get me any smithing experience at all?

Yeah I think I'll do the tasks and Ghosts Ahoy first to speed up the process. Thanks for the help.

Buying the cannonballs saves you from wasting your time making them. Cannonballs are not good xp (even at your level) therefore, you should make money a different way so you can do something that has a greater xp/hr. I'd recommend you do the quest Family Crest, and obtain the goldsmith gaunts.
