Is there any specific FC or anything I can use or do I have to actually hop worlds till I find atleast 1 active obelisk?

I'd advice you to do the work yourself. In the several weeks I did this activity, the obelisk_chat was completely useless since people just camped there waiting for a report.

People camp there waiting for report, the forum topic generally gets activity. Chat is usually dead because people are hopping worlds looking, or not paying attention. Also, sometimes people in the chat don't actually know how to find them. Just hop worlds asking for hints until you find an active one.
