What is the best way to train fishing?

Featured Replies

For f2p and members, what is...

1) The most profitable way to train fishing?

2) The fastest way to train fishing?

3) The best balance between speed and money-making?

I'm level 95 and used to train on Monkfish, before I left, but now I've come back I'm not sure if there are newer/better ways to train.

Thanks!

1.) Rocktails (AFK) (~60k/hr) Call of the Sea aura will increase XP/HR as well, fishing outfit, etc..

2.) C2 Fishing in Daemonheim (~100k/hr) / Barbarian fishing (~80k/hr)

3.) Rocktails or any of the others with a combination of GE flipping.

F2P:

1.) N/A. Maybe lobsters?

2.) Fly-fishing and dropping

3.) N/A.

Hope this helps a little..

Sorry for my general ignorance, but a few follow-up questions... (I've been away from the game for a long time)

Rock-tails are the fish you can only get in the place under the mining guild, right? That seems to sound familiar.

What is the Call of the Sea aura, what is the fishers outfit, and how do I get them/use them?

Thanks for the help, though!

That's correct. http://www.tip.it/ru...ock_caverns.htm if you want to take a more detailed look. You need 90 fishing and living rock minerals to fish them.

The Call of the Sea aura is an item which you can purchase from the Loyalty Shop for X amount of points. Every month you are member's you will receive more Loyalty Points to spend on auras, emotes, outfits, and titles. http://services.rune...loyalty-points/

The skilling auras come in 4 tiers, each one increasing in price and percentage. The first aura costs 5,000 Loyalty Points and increases your chance of catching fish by 3%, all the way up to 10% by the tier 4 aura. Also keep in mind that the longer you are a paying member, the more Loyalty Points you get each month, up to 15,000 points a month.

The fishing outfit can be obtained by playing the Fish Flingers minigame: http://www.tip.it/ru...sh_flingers.htm

It's a member's only, low-risk minigame that can be played 2 times a day. The entire fishing outfit costs 460 tokens (you get tokens for catching fish). Each piece adds a 1.5% XP boost when catching fish, for a total of 5% when you wear the entire set.

Hope this was helpful. :P.

P.S. Don't forget decorated fishing urns when you go fishing. They fill when you catch fish, and once they're full can be teleported for 1,800 Fishing XP. (Can't be taken into Daemonheim.)

Ok, thanks very much for the information!

I could ask again what a fishing urn is (really, it's like explaining this stuff to a baby with me - I've been away so long) but I'll just have a look around the tip.it website for more information about skilling - if I'm serious about getting back into the game (which I think I am, but don't quote me) it won't hurt to have a vague idea what I'm doing!

For F2P, the answers would be....

1) Swordies (noting with stiles) will net you the most cash. Gp per hour is hard to say with prices being so all over the place lately.

2) Fly fishing with dropping ~ 65K Exp/hr. Bring a few urns with you and get more when you run out (fast lodestone teleing and dg banking) to maximize this.

3) Swordies with gloves from Fist of Guthix give approximately 28K Exp/hr at level 92 (more at higher levels but I don't know the exact amounts) and the best profit possible. If you don't enjoy Fog and don't get the gloves, I would suggest Lobsters, around 23K/hr at 92, which is more then 20K/hr for Swordies without gloves. Bring urns as well, as they boost Exp/hr.
