new melee set up

so, i have been a bit busy, so i would appreciate insight from people who know what they're talking about (the kind folks of tip it)

i have bandos chestplate, tassets, and boots

other armor i had was helm of neizinot/full slayer helm, fury, beserker ring, whip and dragon defendor

so, now with the eoc, what should i do to upgrade?

i have elite enhanced excalibur, and i am doing dg to get tokens for chaotic weapons

but for armor, should i get a bandos helm? i think the shield is good. is doing a bunch of mobilizing armies to get the berserker ring upgraded worth it?

then for melee weapons, is rapier plus dragon defendor still really good? rapier plus shield? whip and elite excalibur? chaotic maul and something?

other ideas?

well veracs is better then bandos now, rapier + EEE is the best youll get without getting 2 rapier but the chaotic maul might be their equal. Dont bother with a dragon defender.

why is verac's better? i have both and i'm not seeing much difference besides 1 point prayer bonus

Hell of a lot cheaper and the prayer makes it a superior armor. Only downside is that barrows degrade faster now and are more expensive to fix(It would still take you hundreds of fixes to equal the price of a bandos set). So if you die a lot, or find repairing annoying, bandos is a substitute. However that money is better invested into other things.

Warrior ring is the best for melee now. Zerker is just a watered down version that also has crit% for range and mage. This stands for both imbued and non-imbued versions.

Sara whisper is still best melee amulet, but an extra few mill isn't really worth 0.2% crit bonus.

Blessed spirit shield is same stats as bandos warshield, has a larger prayer bonus, and is cheaper. So that should be your shield of choice.

Rapier + EEE should do for most melee-based slayer tasks and such.

Remember, if you have the money lying around, you might as well grab Bandos armor. Assuming the price doesn't drop (so now might not be a good time; wait for things to stabilize) you aren't really losing any money like you are with Barrows. You can re-sell Bandos to get ~100% of your money back, but repair costs for Barrows is gone for good. And who knows, Jagex might decide to put Bandos, as well as the other Godwars armor, back up to level 75, as it was in the beta for some time.

It's really up to you in the end. The repair costs for Barrows is still very low. I believe it only got multiplied by 3, and nil tripled is still roughly zilch. I'd probably still be using Barrows religiously if I wasn't given a free set of Bandos, and I intend on keeping it for "sentimental value" alone.

But I digress. It's not a matter of Verac's vs. Bandos. Simple solution: you should be using Dharok's set if you're ever meleeing in a rather safe environment (so you can stay at low health and not get murdered) such as slayer or some bosses. The damage boost is ridiculous, and works on abilities. IN BEFORE NERFFF!!!

I/we should really talk to someone who has it to make sure things didn't change but Archer/Seer/Warrior (i) > Archer/Seer/Warrior = Onyx (i) > Berserker (i).

IMO Korasi > Abyssal whip. Only ~3% less accurate, higher damage, yes slower speed, but also adds a 1% crit
