I know I'm F2P right now, but I'm getting mems again next week. I want to know what the best ranged weapons are in the EoC. My ranged level is 77 and I haven't exactly got enough cash for the Armadyl C'bow. Anyway, I need the top 5, or top 10 weapons I can buy, thanks.

Probably a Rune Crossbow + Offhand Rune C'bow w/ Broad Bolts. (If you have 55 Slayer)

Okay thanks but what would be better do you think? A rune C'bow And Dragonfire shield or dual wielding 2 rune c'bows? Just interested :D

A duel wield setup opens up the Unload ability, although that's not available in F2P. Otherwise, I think I'm right in thinking the off-hand doesn't boost the other abilities' damage, so you could take a shield and be dealing just as much damage, or else use a shield and switch to the off-hand at 100% adrenaline for Unload. It would have to be a ranged shield, though, as any other will cut into your ranged accuracy.

 

If you're not struggling with damage, go duel wield anyway because there's absolutely no need for the shield. Alternatively, consider a 2h bow and arrows. That decision might depend on the weaknesses of the monster you're facing. I'm reasonably sure a bow would deal more damage than a single crossbow + shield setup because of the damage modifier on 2h weapons.

Well, top 5 you can use would be...

 

Crossbow:

(not in particular order, but for at the moment you're best off with rune cbow+offhand)

- Dragon crossbow + offhand

- Rune crossbow + offhand

- 2h dragon crossbow

- Armadyl crossbow

- 2h rune crossbow

 

Bow:

- Crystal bow(you should use it if you can get)

- actually just use crystal bow

I'd actually go with Rune 2H Crossbow and switch to Royal Xbow once you get 80 Ranged.

Karil's crossbow - tier 70 2h ranged weapon. Highest raw damage at tier 70.

Sagaie - tier 72 1h thrown weapon.

Crystal bow - tier 70 2h ranged weapon. Slightly less damage than Karil's crossbow but faster.

In my experience using a Rune 2h crossbow is better than using dual rune crossbows. This is assuming you're using the abilities - may be different if using momentum. Your abilities generally just use your primary weapon, so in that case having a second rune crossbow doesn't really matter whereas using a rune 2h crossbow hits much harder. I was using 2 crossbows on a greater demon task and it was rather slow, so I tried the 2h crossbow for my next task (black demons), and was killing them even faster than I was killing the greaters despite their higher combat level.

Karil's xbow is a waste. Black salamander is the same thing for less. No upkeep and extremely cheap ammo.

I say you go with as high as tier as you can get, basically. Black salamander is the most accessible. Dw for range sucks unless you have dual ccb. Rune xbow can't do a lot of the enchanted bolts and it's inaccurate against high level monsters. I took dual rune xbow to black drags, w/ dbane bolts. Kills were very slow. Came back with my Sally, things went a lot faster. Crystal bow is pretty good too, it's just annoying to get the recharge cost down low enough. Although I'm not sure if the per shot cost on crystal bow or the black salamander is cheaper.
