What makes them so unique? I haven't quite got the concept. What makes them so diffrent from any other sig drawing?

They're PIXEL, you do them, one dot at a time. That's what makes them so different.

Sprite/pixel art is nice because:

 

 

 

1. The drawings are made entirely pixel by pixel (ie: 1px pencil tool. no brushing, no opacities, etc.)

 

 

 

2. They originated as sprite art for 8-bit games, so they have a "classic", or "oldschool" feel.

 

 

 

3. They don't require any expensive equipment.

So even if your work has even a small bit of something that was not done in a pixel by pixel fashion then it does not belong in the pixel art galleries.

Its just cool because you can have whatever you want made.

Its not exactly one dot at a time, if you have a tablet, you can just draw it out. When you have the basic linework, you can use the bucket to color it in. Shading doesn't take that long either, unless your doing it the higher quality way... Anyways...
