December 16, 201213 yr Recently my hard drive died and I had to replace it. When I reinstalled windows xp my computer said it did not have an Ethernet controller driver. Because I cannot connect to the Internet (am on a desktop so no wifi), I cannot let the computer search for the correct driver, and I don't know what network card I have. On the receipt I got a few years ago for buying the computer it says it is a "1G LAN OB" Where can I find the driver I need? December 16, 201213 yr If you go into the hardware management thing on windows and find the network card you should be able to get the exact info on the model. Using that you can then google for drivers, stick em on a usb pen and take them to the desktop to install. December 16, 201213 yr Gigabyte has an awesome utility that displays all hardware, their manufacturers, and models. Should look into that, as that's what I use when I reformat and can't find my installation CDs. Comes in handy when the Device Manager only says what type of hardware it is.
December 16, 201213 yr If it's a prebuilt computer you just need to go to driver page on the manufacturer's page, usually the model of the computer is in the front of the case.
