February 15, 201313 yr Hello all,This is my first post here, please correct me if i put this in the wrong section.I'm looking for advice on some mage-armor to go on a few barrows runs. I did alright at barrows pre-eoc but now i don't seem to hit much and get hit a lot more ;-) There is a catch though. I won't buy it off the GE or an other player. So i need to craft it myself, get it as a drop or some other way. Does anyone have some good suggestions on what to try to get? My levels are: mage 85, ranged 90, att 72, str and def 73 (dg 63...) Thank you all
February 15, 201313 yr What weapon are you using? And I have no idea why you wouldn't want to buy armour, but batwing would be easy to get. My blog
February 15, 201313 yr If you have the required Slayer and Crafting levels, you could go to the Polypore dungeon and craft a set of Grifolic armour.
February 15, 201313 yr Ahrims armor is pretty good, but it degrades.Gano is good too, but you need to gain 2 def levels.
February 15, 201313 yr Author I use a black saly or water/air b-staff as a weapon. I probably need to upgrade that to.....Ahrims is indeed very good, but getting it is the problem. It was the reason i was at barrows anyway.Gaining 2 def-levels isn't to much of a problem so i might do that and look into gano. First i'll have a look at batwing though, I like making my own armor. I'm off slaying bats! Thank you all for your reply's, If anyone has some more ideas, they are more than welcome. I used to use ancient magic (ice-spells) and/or black saly, is this stilla viable option?
February 15, 201313 yr Black salamander is now a ranged weapon so that doesn't really fit with your mage armour. The accuracy on battlestaves is terrible; viable alternatives at higher levels are probably the bat wand (level 45), ancient staff (level 50), one of the god staves from the Mage Arena or the Toktz-Mej-Tal (level 60). Probably only the level 60 staves will be close to usable at Barrows though, due to the vast difference in tiers. Another good option is the Lightning staff 4, though you'd have to have obtained that from a promotion, and I don't know if it'd fit with your playstyle. In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.
February 15, 201313 yr Author An ancient staff i can get, no problem. one of the god staves shouldn't be to hard either, I just have to get through the wildernes :-) Thanks Saradomin_Mage
February 15, 201313 yr It'd of course be better if you could get a polypore staff/staff of light/Ahrim's staff, but I assume you're DIY so those would be much harder to get a hold of. In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.
February 15, 201313 yr Author DIY poses some interesting problems. I would like to get Ahrim's staff....so i can easely get Ahrim's staff ;-) But i'll get it in the end, the journey is always more interesting than the destination.
February 15, 201313 yr Very theoretically, you could go straight for a chaotic staff :D. It's really the best DIY magic weapon, because it's 100% guaranteed, requires only one skill and only up to 80, and it's (tied for) the best staff in the game. February 15, 201313 yr Author That would indeed be very theoretical, Quyneax. I,m currently 63 dg, mostly from Juna and a few solo dungeons. I'm not online regularly enough to get into a decent group so getting around 80 dg would take me a lot of time. (that, and the fact that i **** at dg, lol) Then again, i want to get my dg up sometime anyway so i might need to look into this option. But not just yet, i got my batwing armour and will try it out soon!
February 16, 201313 yr Author Does this mean they are a decent option pingouin7?Edit: I just realized i might have to dust off my lunar gear. If i read it correctly that staff is level 65? would the armour be a good option?
February 16, 201313 yr Lunar gear is not worth using, since it's bonuses are lower than Batwing's. Also, Lunar staff only has ~600 accuracy or something, compared to God staves and Toktz-Mej-Tal, which have ~1.1kSince you plan on DIY-ing your equipment, the god staves are probably your best bet (Then you can upgrade to Ahrim's once/if you get one from the chest.)
