I remember the Dorgeshuun crossbow used to be REALLY cheap for range training. But it was nerfed because bolts were raised from 2 GP to 18 GP each and they limited the stock in the shop.

 

Although, did they change the stats on it? Is it still powerful/fast enough to use it over a yew bow with bronze arrows? I recall the bolt strength was somewhere between steel and mithril. I'm not sure on the crossbow speed, either. That's basically the deciding factor. I would buy it and test it myself, but i'm a bit short on cash and don't want to spend the 2k if i can get my answer here =P

Crossbow has 42 ranged attack compared to 47 on the bow.

 

According to the old bone bolts entry (http://web.archive.o...rs2item_id=5253) their base shop price is 3gp increasing to 18gp when they're bought out.

 

Don't know about the speed though but bow was likely faster

I don't think that's correct, because when i checked the shop, around ~260 bolts were left(only 40 under max stock) and the price was 18 each. But every archived database says 3 - 18 =S

And i was fairly certain that one of the reasons the bone cbow was good for training was because it was faster than a traditional crossbow?

Fairly sure that was the Hunter's crossbow.

Buy maybe Dorgeshuun crossbow had that faster attack speed too.

Dorgeshuun on rapid is as fast as a shortbow on accurate. It's faster than metal c'bows.

 

Its bolts are about as strong as rune arrows. Ranged strength comparisons here.

The max stock of the shop is 1000 and they're indeed 3 gp each. The price rises very quickly though, it's 18 gp at ~700 bolts remaining.
