FFS HORDE
Hi, Just some questions on EoC. Say I'm wearing full Sea Singers but with in my boots slot I wear Glavien Boots. Will I see a reduction in damage? Will I be more prone to melee attacks? Should I wear other combat styled gear in gloves and head slot so I have equal defence to all attacks from the combat triangle? Would ganodermic boots be the next best alternative if I don't have the money? This question would also apply to the gloves slot. What situations should I dual wield or use 2h or use shield and mainhand? Say a monster has a particular weakness to water spells. Would ice barrage work just as well? Do gear that have Class: All bring about an adverse effect? Or does this only occur to body and legs equipment? Is the Spectral Spirit Shield useless? Is the chaotic maul stil effective? I currently don't have drygores but I want to do some KK later. What melee weapons would work best? I have access to all chaotics. Thanks.
Sy_Accursed
1) Body, Legs and Shield slots carry accuracy reductions for wrong style (eg mage item when using melee).Head, hands, feet do not carry this penalty. Also it is an ACCURACY penalty not a damage penalty, but of course an accuracy penalty will still hurt your DPSAs for how defence works (someone could probably give more accurate numbers but this will cover the theory at least)An item's 'defence' stat it given completely to the style it is strong too. (So Mage armours defence stat goes 100% to melee)Around 2/3 of the stat are then given to matching style (so to mage for mage armour)And only about 1/3 to the weak style (so ranged)So a Mage item with say 100 defence would give roughly:100 Melee Def66 Mage Def33 Ranged Def A range one would go:100 Mage Def66 Range Def33 Melee Def Basically you just want to ensure body, legs and shield match your attack. The rest you can play with depending on what you are fighting. 2) Shield is pretty much entirely useless to my knowledge, perhaps a few tanking things in bosses like KK and Nex, but thats about it.As for 2h vs DW they are pretty much equal though I believe (according to meta gamer folks) DW abilities give slightly better DPS. 3) If you look at ancient spells they have been given elements. They should be reverted to their original names soon, but the tooltips and runes shown the elements. Smoke/Gale - Air. Shadow/Rock - Earth. Blood/Bloodfire - Fire. Ice - Water. 4) I may have this back to front but to my understanding all just spreads evenly between all 3 classes. Where as Hybrid will actively lower your highest values and raise your lowest values to move towards balance. The later two I don't think I can really answer too well so I'll leave them be. FFS HORDE
Thanks for that. So from what I gather there is no penalty whatsoever if I wear Steadfasts when I'm maging? Or is there an accuracy reduction?
Sy_Accursed
Nope no penalty for wearing steadfasts whilst maging. The only 'out of place' thing is being melee class they will give mainly ranged def opposed to the melee defence ragefires would offer. Th e Doctor
With regards to your question on chaotics currently the best is dual wielding chaotic claws (until you can afford drygore of course). They have better abilities and in addition they have a 0.9% crit on each claw for a total of 1.8%. Quyneax
Shields are very good in PvP, and theoretically there are some applications for Revenge @ QBD if there's a lot of worms out or at KK when those minions are out. @Tieszen: I think it's 1.8% for the pair. FFS HORDE
Just an extra question. Say I was fighting a boss that uses all three combat styles. In the gloves, boots and head slot, should I choose gear that will give me the equal defence in all three styles? Such as a tetsu helm, glaivens and static gloves?
Quyneax
It depends on the strength of all these styles. Most bosses have one style they use more often, that hits higher or is otherwise more important to defend against. All-round defence isn't all that useful except in theory, usually you only need two styles. In theory, if the boss had equal power in all styles, then you can/should use the cape, helm, gloves, boots and ring slot to spread your defence.
