Background story: father took a script on a disc from this computer to his computer at work, he found out that this computer has a VERY heavy virus on it and Norton antivirus is out of date because we havent paied, therefor i need a free downloading anti-virus program.

Ok, you're right, i should've done that but i took me 15mins before i found a anti-virus that i could use, i found out that it didnt work then had to look through a ton of redirections to finds another one and the whole thing is messed up, THAT'S the reason why i posted here and didnt use the one linked

You say that I'm right and that you should have looked there first (an admission that you didn't) then you say that it took you a long time to find one through the sticky and it didn't work and that's the reason you didn't read the sticky? Make your mind up.

Theres a reason why you have to keep paying for those updates.... no one does free, updated antivirus software because theres no money in it....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Try using spybot, its meant mainly for getting rid of spyware but also points out stuff which has virus characteristics for deletion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you can get your computer online you can try performing an online scan:

But you're unlikely to find a very good, downloadable and free program for antivirus duty, its either the last two or the first two, not all three....

AVG is a good free scanner.
