The sticky thread in the OT board has received barely over 20 posts in a year and a half. If stickies are there to prevent multiple versions of the same thread appearing on the rest of the board, then this sticky is clearly redundant.

It needs removing, or else have its sticky status removed and therefore be allowed to die like all other threads.

OT is so dead at this point we should just delete the sticky and make a new youtube thread. If it gets one post a month it'll stay on the first page anyways.

No mod responses in a month, so I'll bump this again.

I mean I suppose I could go un-stick it, but on the other hand it does (nominally) help improve visibility.  I'll mention it to the rest of the team and see what we can do :).

If a discussion starts up between Staff Team Members, I hope we'll get to view it here.  It probably will happen in a private thread, but one can dream about it, right?  And hopefully it won't be an overkill-wall-of-text, right? :anxious:

Actually in a Skype chat :P, but for now the consensus seems to be to leave the thread as is.

Generally speaking no...unless you follow phishing links from a YouTube video/description.

I was watching skilling videos and my browser slowed to a crawl...

Try not watching those videos at such a high quality level while doing many other things at the same time, or even just while having RuneScape loaded.  If you're trying to push 720p or more while doing so, then no wonder you're having issues.  Like, try 480p... and this IS coming from someone who's only on a single-core ancient system and knows what the true limits of 2.4 GHz are. :geek:

Also, use 'AdBlock Plus' ('ABP' for short) with your browser, and make sure to add filters yourself against advert domains and tracking scripts.  Or you can use the alternative with ABP and simply subscribe to community-built filter lists that can take care of most of that for you.  Either way you choose with that, you'll find very quickly that you gain a chunk of system performance back by not having the background junk of those advert domains/tracking scripts running.  They're the biggest source of your problems when video-watching on the internet :ugeek:

You know someone told me that 50 apps running in the background is normal, that the computer needs them all to run properly.

2ghz is truly handicapped :P

Nice guide, although this thread was meant to discuss the stickied thread in off-topic here :P.  If you want I can move it there, or you could make your own thread in RuneScape Media, as it is clearly more than just a trivial video and is related to RuneScape.  Let me know if you need anything :).

True, you're going to have a ton of apps that come at startup and run in the background.  But what I'm talking about is everything you add after you start the system up and login.  That is the part as to which you have to watch your additional load on the system. ;)
