mr chow
HYT, It's been 227 days since I last logged in when they came out with some weird combat system. I've received emails in the past that my account racked up some black marks. I think i got hacked since my bank pin was undone. I tried to play on deployment...Runescape with shitty afghan no thank you. I was wondering who can give me a brief/long description of what I have missed in 3-4 years haha. My rs name is Foukouei. How I got here?I googled my name but all i found were 3000+ pages of tip.it. I used to lurk in the tip.its' help and advice section quite frequently (asianboy7o7) however I don't remember my password. I've semi retired and was retired was a good amount of time. Curiosity kills me and so I'm here again. My activities I used to enjoy before i quit. Castle wars, slayer, hunt for my untrimmed hp cape. Prices for items i used to remember 3m furywhip 1.4m black mask 500kguthan set 6m Is it worth coming back? Probably not. I probably just have nostalgic memories of 4 or so years I've played on this game. I've moved on so much in life. Also why can't I see my stats? Kimberly
Moved to Help and Advice. I actually remember you, asianboy7o7. :) If you've lost the password to your tipit forum account, you can fill out an account problem form and an administrator will try to help you recover it. You might not have incurred any black marks on your account. In fact, did you know they changed that system a while ago? Now it's just this progress bar with offenses listed under it. Oh the days of blackmarks, long gone! XD I'd say try logging back into your Runescape account via the runescape website and making sure if you have them or not. A lot of those emails you get are phishing attempts. Castlewars is kind of dead sadly. But slayer is still a big skill that lots of people love. The new combat system sped it up a lot though. Honestly though, it's a bit hard to give you a breakdown of the past 4 years, but I'll give it a whirl. Lots of quests have come out, goes without saying. Just look at your quest menu :) The logout timer is now 5mins instead of 30 seconds like it used to be. AFK training is hard to come by and all the methods of training combat overnight are completely broken. The wilderness is back, but dead. Free trade is back, too. No more bounty hunter though. There's a new prayer book unlocked by Temple at Sennisten quest. New normal magic spells (surges). Ancients have had their names changed but they still work in the same fashion iirc. Divination is a new skill, and there's another skill incoming called the inventor skill. Dungeoneering had a lot of changes to it as well so it's much better than it was on release. Membership prices have gone up, but you can also buy membership via ingame gold now so there's that. There's a LOT of microtransactions in the game now. I glossed over a LOT of things. Really, there's just too much to mention. A synopsis doesn't do it justice.
Arceus
You may have to open the interface ('h' key is the default if I recall correctly). Also, those emails may have been fake phishing attempts, so I would just log in to runescape.com and check directly, under account management. Kimberly
The new combat system is focused around abilities and adrenaline. You remember how you'd click on a target and let it hit things for you? Those are now considered auto-attacks. Special attacks that weapons used to have are now converted to abilities that all weapons can use depending upon your class and whether you're using 2hand weapons or dual-wielding weapons. Adrenaline is built up while fighting and spent when you use your abilities, similar to when you'd use the dds spec and your special bar would go down and take time to regenerate. There's three types of abilities: basic abilities, which can be used at any time and generate adrenaline; threshold abilities, which require a minimum of 50% adrenaline built up before they can be activated and they use up adrenaline; and ultimate abilities, which use ALL of your adrenaline. All abilities have a brief cool-down period that is different from ability to ability. Auto-attacks, which again happen when you let the game hit your target for you once you click on it, generate adrenaline. The amount they generate is paltry, though. Basic abilities generate a lot more adrenaline than auto attacks but aren't very powerful. Remember how enemies didn't really have a weakness before? You could smack them with mage, melee, and range but there wouldn't be one combat style that was better than any other. Melee was just the most cost efficient to use, so everyone used melee. Well now monsters have a weakness. You'll do more damage on monsters using the weapon types they're weak to. Combat levels are also calculated differently. Your armor's defense is a lot more important, as it determines how much life points you have and how well you can withstand hits. Armors don't have strength bonuses anymore. Instead, armors have three types across the magic, ranger, and meleer styles: tank, power armor, hybrid. If you don't wear armor that corresponds with the type of weapon you're using, you'll be less accurate. Uhm there's probably more I'm missing. Other people will correct me or fill in the gaps, and I will try to answer whatever questions you have too. In the meantime, there's a combat tutorial in lumbridge that can also be of great help in learning the new combat system. Hope this helped a little bit :(! mr chow
The long tutorial in burthrope. I'll see to him eventually.I'm guessing armor gives offensive and defensive boosts now ( obby cape 3.5% to melee crit) The whip is outdated isn't it? So what's runescape 2 compared to 3? mr chow
Can I just play runescape 2007? Those were the best days.
Saradomin_Mage
Sure you can. You'll have to reset all your stats though, and start from the tutorial. You'll also need membership to access it. http://oldschool.runescape.com/oldschool_index In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers. Th e Doctor
Honestly I like rs the way it is now much better than it was in 07. If you're confused about combat go the to combat academy in Lumbridge and they'll give you enough basic knowledge to fiddle with and perfect from there. It's not all that complicated, just takes a while to figure out the best order of abilities to use on different monsters to get the most damage out. Whips aren't so much outdated as they are stuck to t70 for being useful. All weapons in an equal tier have the same dps as long as you're using abilities with faster weapons benefiting more from using momentum (basically momentum makes you auto attacks stronger so gameplay is much more similar to 07scape). What that means is that as soon as you can access the next tier of weapons it's worth switching. Currently the best weapons are t90 with drygores (130-140 mil for a set), ascension xbows (~230 m each or 560 m for the set) and seismic wand/orb (max cash for the wand ~1bil for the orb). Accuracy when using abilities only takes into account Mainhand accuracy so it's pretty close to the same dps to use drygore mainhand with a chaotic offhand as using dual drygores (like 3% less dps overall). This is most commonly use with ascension bows because 230 for the mainhand and a chaotic offhand is much more feasible for the average scaper than 560 for an extra 3% dps. Almost all bosses are soloable now with the exception of Kalphite King (drops drygores), Vorago (drops seismics), and the new Barrows activity (drops t90 shields and energies to make t90 melee armor). Yes all the training methods you had used before are obsolete except for waterfiends which are now actually better (400 k exp/hr with drygores and 300+crimson charms per hour). Personally, now is the time where I'm enjoying rs more than I have at any other point in my 9 years of off and on again playing, to the point where I'm realistically looking at maxing my account within the next year or so. Armadyl Drops : 4 Hilts; 3 Chestplates; 2 Chainskirts; 1 Helmet; 1 Buckler; 2 Shard 1; 2 Shard 2; 1 Shard 3Nex : 1 Zaryte BowKalphite King : 1 Drygore Rapier ; 1 Drygore Longsword : 1 Drygore Offhand Rapier : 1 Drygore Offhand Longsword
